We went to Ashoka based off of the previous reviews on TripAdvisor. Also we received a 30% discount for booking a table which made it very affordable. We were slightly skeptical as the restaurant was completely empty, however the service we received was first class and the food was exemplary. 100% recommend.

This is a Chinese-Indonesian specialty restaurant, just as the Dutch like to see them. Nicely decorated, cozy, friendly service and good food. The food could be slightly better in my humble opinion but surely is already better than the average 'Afhaal-Chinees'.During my visit for dinner, the restaurant was entirely deserted. The takeout section on the other hand was crowded with people. Service is good and friendly. They did it in a 'village pace' though, very relaxed and not standing by the table every other minute, however good timing with the finishing of plates (not too soon but when an empty plate is left alone for a few minutes they come to clear it.)The food is as mentioned before, not excuisit but it is better than average, containing quality material and cooked honestly, also the plates are made up nicely with some green garnish and a shaped cut radish.They have WiFi available on request.I'll come by again if I crave Chinese-Indonesian food again in this area.

There are many rijstafel restaurants in Amsterdam, but only one to consider: Restaurant Blauw. Although it's a bit of out of the way, an easy cab or tram ride from the center city is well worth it. For those who are new to rijstafels, the term translates into "rice table" but that masks the many flavors and textures of this Indonesian treat. Blauw offers vegetarian, small and large options, and each of the 20 or so different dishes - meats, vegetables, fish, etc. - served to be enjoyed on your plate around the rice (they serve two different rices too!) has a distinctive taste. Each was great, although the bbqued goat was my favorite, and the combinations incredible. I've been fortunate to have lots of rijstafels in my life; none better than Blauw's! As an added benefit, the perfectly reasonable rijstafel price includes a beer, glass of wine, or other drink. There are lots of other meal options for those who don't wish to order rijstafel, but I'll have to wait for the next trip to Amsterdam to try them.

The menu is multifaceted, presenting Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean dishes. I had the waiter advise me and selected the miso soup with weed and tofu (tasty), 1000 threads scallops (scallops wrapped in dough threads and fried, presented with a side of cold spiced creamy sauce, awesome), followed by a Korean Bulgogi beef sizzler. Closed with espresso and Mochi ice cream balls in rice paper. Sadly the Mochi balls came straight out of the freezer, were painfully cold, and hard enough to crack a skull with, so that was a bit of a bummer (hence 4 out of 5). Good house tempranillo merlot. Dropped 50 EUR including tip, left satisfied. Good eating.

Staying locally in the Olympic Hotel we decided to try Mr Sams based on the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. We werenât disappointed! Even though this was a Wednesday evening the restaurant was full with a lively, buzzing atmosphere.Greeted by Sam ( the owner himself) the menu was explained in great detail before another charming member of staff took our order.The cooking itself is styled as new Asian and was faultless. We shared the noodles, short rib and dim sum and each was delicious.Wonderful chocolate soufflé and cocktails finished a memorable evening. This place is a real gem......! Highly recommended! We

Freshly prepared food is brought in and put in the cooling counter daily. ready to scoop out when ordered.The friendly storeclerk advises in whatever questions you might have about the food available.Making your choices, the food is gathered in microwavable containers and on request microwaved.You pay by the weight or amount of pieces when applicable and get the food along in a plastic bag, ready to enjoy later on.Mostly for employee purposes, but also to allow the customer who wants to eat immediately, some cheap cafeteria furniture is available: a couple of plastic tables and dito chairs.When compiling a meal to eat in, your food is yet again gathered in microwavable boxes, yet various choices are combined within a box until it's full.That is then microwaved back to heat and presented on your table accompanied by plastic utensils.Believe it or not, the microwaved food is quite good!I've had better on occasions but the quality at Selera Anda is still above average.When craving Indonesian food in Badhoevedorp, Selera Anda is not just you only option, it's a very feasible one.Due to the absense of an actual restaurant like setting, and because I've had better Indonesian food on occasion, the resulting rating is 3-out-of-5.

Recommended here and by our hotel for the famous Reistafel, we made a reservation here ofr a Friday eveningout. Good vegan options and one of us had the classic menu which was also delicious. There are several bars in the city centre within five minutes' walk of this place and you can stroll along the canal from the restaurant to the square.

Seven of us enjoyed a wide variety of delicious Japanese dishes in this restaurant! Under the âeat as much as you canâ concept we ordered a wide variety of sushi and other Japanese foods. Although the restaurant was fully occupied the waiters managed to serve quite quickly and efficiently, and the service was warm and friendly. We all agreed the quality was better than we had enjoyed at other Japanese restaurants. A special offer of one free menu for groups above five persons had just been extended as a surprise! Definitely worth returning to!

I was privileged to eat lunch in this restaurant for 4 consequent days. The food items were delicious as per dutch standard. Considering our Indian Origin they served at least rice item and chicken curry. The most memorable item of this restaurant was Salmon it was out of the world. The restaurant has good view of front road. All the non vegetarian items were ultimate. The Pastries or other sweet items were also unique. I enjoyed all the lunch and hope to visit here again.Thank you very much for your compliments! It's very nice to hear that you enjoyed our lunch offerings for 4 consequent days.
