Food was pretty good. Bartender made great drinks. I had the cap read chicken which was good. We ordered creme brûlée which is my absolute favorite. Very disappointed. The sugar was not carmalized. We sent them back and they werenât much better. Good place great bartender food was nothing to write home about.

It really shouldnât have taken us over four years to make a return visit to Crossroads. We enjoyed the previous trip in the middle of Winter so we should have gotten back in nice weather a lot sooner.Once again, there were ten draft beers available on this visit, but maybe our aging is also making us more moderate. So instead of ordering two samplers again to cover all possibilities we decided to share just one sampler with six 5 oz. glasses ($12). Only one beer was available to repeat â the Black Rock Stout (6.8% abv) â and it was a favorite once again. We also especially enjoyed the White Dog Wit (4.9% abv) and the Brooks Brown Ale (6.3% abv).A salad option that we had never seen before was the ability to have any of the various salad offerings on the menu served in a whole wheat wrap with fries and slaw for an additional $3. With that in mind, my wife ordered the $12 Grilled Carrot Salad served that way. While it may have looked strange eating your salad in a wrap, it was really convenient and offered the ability to get a good mix of both flavors and textures with each bite.BTW, the fries are fantastic. Hand-cut, they are also available as an appetizer ($4). Fortunately, my Cabra Caliente Burger ($16) already came with fries so I didnât have to steal any from my wife. All the burgers use beef from Kilcoyne farm and while the beef is very flavorful it did not have a very high fat content so it tended to be on the drier side, even when served medium-rare as requested. This burger remedies that fact by topping the paddy with hot pepper Chevre, chipotle crème, jalapeños, salsa, lettuce, and tomato.An additional minor negative with the burger was the roll it was served on. Yes, it was fresh with a nice flavor, but it was dry and its height resulted in too much bread for this burger in my opinion. I ate half of my burger without the top roll and I enjoyed it much more so.Service continues to be friendly and efficient. We did see that there is a second location in Catskill, which is only a little further South. We decided to take a ride by it before we headed for home and saw quite a few cars in their parking lot. It also is located along a creek and serves pizza. Maybe that will be our next visit. But I almost forgot to mention that the Athens location has some regular nightly specials that sound inviting. My husband, sister, and brother in law and I had a very good dinner at Red Dot on the hottest weekend of the year! Needless to say, we decided to dine inside and had great service. The server was a personable young man who offered his curated opinions on the food. He was spot on with some dishes. The atmosphere was cozy and artsy.

We enjoyed an early Fall dinner at this Hudson venue near the train station. Farmers boasts a farm to table experience, and the Local Mushroom Pappardelle with Scallion Soubise fulfilled that promise nicely. Mrs Gyr gave the Loup De Mer (sea bass) with Stewed Beluga Lentils high marks as well. A full-bodied Sonoma Pinot rounded out our meals well. Cozy pub ambiance and friendly service. Thumbs up!

We stopped here for dinner. The place was 75% busy. We sat near the bar at the high top tables, the other room has comfy chairs and coffee tables to eat from along with a nice fireplace for added ambiance. Our waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Our food was very tasty! We ordered the Shepardâs Pie special and a burger with fries. Itâs a great place and we will be stoping here again!

We started with the French onion soup that was piping hot and loaded with cheese and chicken wings that were rather bland even with the Buffalo sauce. My wife ordered the coconut crusted Mahi Mahi and served with a potato pancake with a darkened coating. I opted for the Mac and cheese that was loaded with chunks of lobster. Both dishes were huge, seasoned and cooked perfectly. Great service and good cocktails make this a place you want to back to and try some of the other dishes on their extensive menu. A note to all going this time of year, dress for the outdoors as there was no heat on our visit.

In years past, the Boathouse was our "go to" dinner destination and we happily dined at least once a week on the deck. We finally had a chance to go this season and were extremely disappointed. The service was terrible, the server was slamming plates on the tables, our drinks were never refilled and we had to beg for the check b/c the server never came back after dropping off the food. If the place was busy, I could possibly understand it, but there were a total of 6 tables on the deck and 3 servers wandering around. The food took forever and was mediocre at best - a far cry from what we came to expect from years of dining at the Boathouse. The only bright spot was the view and the always cheerful hostess. Sadly, it will be a long time before we come back, if ever.Chrissie,We are so sorry to hear that your visit was so subpar. We are truly surprised as this time of year has our most experienced staff and I would like to hear more offline about your experience. Traveling from the Midwest to visit family, we found this local gem. A small, but nicely decorated pub like you may see in England. Very friendly people, good service, and great food. We both enjoyed a local ale with our delicious fish and chips...a generous portion of crisp fish with seasoned fries and a small cup of coleslaw. Highly recommend, so much better than a chain restaurant.
