This is not the sort of restaurant you often find outside big foodie cities and you certainly don't expect such a classy place in a country motel. Sandbar serves only a six course degustation menu and is only open Wednesday to Saturday but do make the effort to go to celebrate a special occasion. The service is impeccable, with warm bread, homemade butter, generous glasses of filtered water topped up frequently with no polluting or overpriced bottles in sight. The wine list is thoughtful, appropriate and not overpriced. Each course is served on a fresh plate chosen to complement it with different colour or textured. Local and seasonal produce is featured. Oh and did I mention the view, over the mouth of the Clyde River and the promenade to the marina with pelicans and cockatiels in abundance. This is an expensive place but good value for what you get.

The soul burger was tasty and wholesome. The nourish bowl had some excellent ingredients, notably the pickled beetroot. The dressing of roasted carrot-miso was a good accompaniment as were the spiced beans and charred corn.
