We visited with our friends on Sunday night and the place was very busy, had to wait about 1/2 hour for a table. There is no place to wait so we just hung out by the door but it was cold and uncomfortable. Once seated, our waiter brought menus and drinks. It took an exceptionally long time for our main course to arrive, but we didnât mind, it gave us time to talk and catch up with our friends. The portions were very big, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We would definitely try this place again.

We drove 30 minutes to have a celebratory dinner here on a Saturday night. El Tango in Hackensack is located on Main Street but there's little parking on this busy downtown street, even on a Saturday night. We did manage to find parking on the street and walk one block, which is good, as the area had lots of other restaurants and patrons in the area.The restaurant is nicely decorated with 2 large screen TV's where the patrons can watch futbol, and the music is very hip and contemporary. There are about 10 tables and the wait staff is very friendly.The menu is varied with choices of appetizers, salads, entrees and sides, with heavy emphasis on the meats, although there was a small selection of seafood and pasta options. Our party of 5 ordered a meat sampler (times two) and several sides, as well as a shrimp appetizer and empanadas appetizer. The appetizers were very good but the meat sampler was only mediocre. The short ribs were very tough, the blood sausage was only ok and the sausage was mediocre. What we really liked on the platter was the flank steak and grilled chicken, and the sweetbreads were surprisingly tasty.The sides were average - salad, tomatoes and red onion, potato salad and beet salad. I was very surprised at the beet salad which was basically a sliced hard-boiled egg tossed in red beets which were definitely from a can. I eat beets often and this is what they look like in a can.It's a BYOB which is nice as it saves you $$. Not sure I'd drive all this way to return but if I were to return, I'd only order the flank steak as an entree.

We called while on the road and were seated promptly. Our Server was very nice and polite!Their house salad is fresh. The Sirloin steak was perfectly cooked medium as we liked. The sweet potato and rice sides were good.While the half a rack ribsâ meat was falling off the bone, we would have preferred if it was not as smothered with sauce. I requested for two pieces of bread to take home for my husband and was gladly given a basket to go with their cinnamon butter.

NJ hot spot. Fantastic food that rivals NYCs best. Great service. Steaks are awesome and the sushi and seafood are terrific as well. Took me 56 years to get to Steve's...no joke...but I finally made it! It was worth the wait...and I won't wait as long next time. Perfectly cooked to order NY strip with very, very little fat and grizzle. Near perfection actually. My biggest issue was the mushrooms that were supposed to come with the steak and steak fries. My sister and I had both had three tiny mushrooms accompany our dinner. Why even bother?! Oh, I highly recommend the horseradish dijon salad dressing, too. Has a nice little kick to it. I reserved some thinking it would go great with the steak but that disappointed.
