The food here is tasty and fresh. The coffee is good too. Cute ambiance, reasonable prices, small parking lot in the back. Overall, a nice experience. The only drawback was the lack of staffing and service. Everything takes a long time. Estimate 2 hrs to have your meal.

I go to Café Paris for breakfast. They do a nice job. The portions are ample and cooked just right. The sausage omelet has a lot of meat in it. I tend to go at non-peak times and never have to wait.

Our ladies night group went to Cafe Paris for dinner this month. There was only one waitress on duty, but she kept on top of taking orders and delivering food to tables. The atmosphere is simple, nothing fancy except for the gaily painted wall murals. The food was delicious! We sampled a few of the soups; I particularly enjoyed the creamy butternut squash soup. Most of my friends ordered one of the savory buckwheat galettes and pronounced them excellent. I had the Salade Nicoise, which was huge and beautiful and tasty. We wanted to try more of the desserts, but we were too full. Two ladies shared the Crepe Melba, which they gobbled up with alacrity. The rest of us had hot beverages; I opted for the yummy Lait Caramel (steamed milk with caramel sauce). The final bill including tip and taxes came to less than $30 per person. I'll definitely be returning, in spite of the parking challenges in downtown Metuchen.

The owner of the former Dan's on Main in Metuchen has come back to town with a casual, comfort food based eatery on Pearl Street, opposite the new parking deck. The restaurant itself is at the end of Pearl which is a dead-end but connects to Main Street via a pedestrian walkway. They offer parking in the deck for customers as there is very limited street parking. The menu is primarily comfort food with a small but nicely varied range of gourmet salads, sandwiches, burgers, mac & cheese combos. They also offer a few eclectic bowls including French Canadian Poutine and Vietnamese Pho. We tried a sampling of sandwiches and mac and cheese and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The mac & cheese does use wagon-wheel pasta and I prefer elbow, but it was very tasty. We took the food to go and it was nicely packaged. There are about 24 seats in the dining room which has a sort of casual, 'cabin in the woods' style to the decor with wood floors and tables/chairs. The dining room did not appear cramped and overall noise level was low to moderate with the place 3/4 full.Prices for sandwiches were in the $10-$14 range, so its not low cost, but the food delivered on the price point. We will definitely be back to try the Korean Fried Chicken, Burgers, and other tasty sounding items that we didn't get on this first visit.
