Coveside caters to people arriving all ways. Come by boat, as we always do and you can park at their dock. Whatever. It's a great place for lunch. The menu is classic American seaside. The bar is serious. The margaritas are really good. More than one is taking a chance! I had their reuben on a recent visit along with really tasty house-made fries. Don't tell my cardiologist about the fries. Must have been a mistake. I thought I ordered green beans. The staff are friendly. The view is great. We like Coveside, for sure.

Downeast Ice Cream

Reviewed By easyriderNh - nh

We were in BoothBay Harbor over Columbus Day weekend, having dinner at McSeagull's when a lovely couple sat down at the bar next to us and said Hello, asked us where we were from. People are always so friendly. We mentioned that we were going to Downeast Ice Cream for our dessert for a delicious hot fudge sundae with the best coffee ice cream after dinner and they said "so sorry, we own the ice cream shoppe and we just ran out of ice cream for the season, closed a few minutes ago". We didn't get our sweet treat that night, but it was such a pleasure to meet the lovely couple that own the shoppe and are responsible for the great friendly staff who work there, the wonderful atmosphere when you walk through the open door and the BEST homemade hot fudge sauce made by the very sweet lady who owns the shoppe.
We will look forward to our first sundae in the 2018 season and hopefully see the owners there next summer. Happy Winter season off.....you both deserve a break.

I ate here twice and both times the food was fabulous. They are famous for their cinnamon rolls and while I didn't have one, I notices that they have lots of regulars coming specifically for the rolls. Very friendly staff.

Muscongus Bay Lobster

Eat local seafood on our spacious deck overlooking Round Pond Harbor. Causal outdoor dining for lunch and dinner. Open Mother's Day until Columbus Day, seven days a week.

Reviewed By sorrylaurie - Winthrop, Maine

The only way to really experience eating lobster in Maine is to eat it on a dock, on the coast of Maine. We have visited Muscongus Bay Lobster many, many times over the years and usually make it a top stop when touring friends from out of state. The lobster and clams are always great. My only issue is the price and the nickel and dimeing...The view is gorgeous, but you definitely pay for it. I get that this is the only time for them to "make hay while the sun shines", but the price we paid for cooking, add ons, etc...is now out pricing us. We may need to look for a new, more reasonable priced place. $7.99 + butter, for 1 lb. of steamed clams, really???

Now called Pemaquid Seafood, here you will find the freshest seafood, in a beautiful setting. Besides all size lobsters, there is also chowders, clams, sandwiches and for those not into seafood, hamburgers, hot dogs, steak sandwiches and salads. There is a menu board with all the offerings when you enter. Order and pay and then pick up when your number is called. And a tank with live lobsters. There is seating inside or picnic tables outside. The view of the bay is just gorgeous. BYOB. Prices are very reasonable. Restrooms along the walkway when you enter the property. Parking just opposite the building. Wheelchair accessible. Oh, and don't forget the peanut butter pie for dessert.

Again, Trip Advisor won out! We ordered a full order of the friend haddock and fries to share. ($18)...with our cold bottled water from the vending machine out back.. Lots of delicious tarter sauce and some cocktail sauce made our shared meal the absolute best!!! very very casual and clean and delicious while sitting on the picnic benches to the left and rear of Bet's Fry shack. Parking was where we could find it. THE BEST!!!!

We stopped in out of curiosity, and found that although she has a great selection of baked goods, it is primarily order ahead. Which we did. 2 blueberry
peach pies, a loaf of bread, 2 pints of chicken noodle soup. All were outstanding- we just had to drive back to get it. Better to idea is to call, order what you want, and just make one trip. Don't let distance deter you! Highly recommend!then only have to make one trip to pick it up.

Karen's Hideaway

Reviewed By sanders s - lawton, MI

I have written 7 reviews of myself and my wife's stay in Boothbay Harbor and I am saving this review for last. THIS IS THE BEST SEAFOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN, NO JOKE! We love out of the way places as we find them to usually be the best. Karen's is a stone cold example of that at it's very best. This is the real deal Maine seafood prepared simply in a simple location. A dump to the uninitiated bet a true gem in what people who care about what they serve can be. If you need to sit in a restaurant with stuffed fish and lobster on the wall to make it real then this is not for you. (Well actually this place is for everyone no matter your previously held opinions). Large portions of very high quality ingredient seafood. Lobster rolls, crab rolls, great pineapple slaw, and more fries than you can eat for two people $45! You pay that much at some places for one quarter that. A MUST HAVE IS DEEP FRIED LOBSTER!!! I cannot say enough!!! Do yourself a favor; change your life; EAT AT KAREN'S HIDEAWAY!!!
