Many foreigners would think that soba noodles are buckwheat noodles, but not in Okinawa! These thick white noodles at Kishimoto Shokudo are especially popular with Taiwanese/ Hong Kong travelers. There is no english menu, actually there is no menu at all. They only offer one thing, the Okinawa soba in large or small size. The only other menu item to order is the pork fried rice but is of limited availability (only 100 servings per day), so get here early!
The soup is really tasty, not too salty like other chain ramen stores. The meat is really tender. We especially enjoyed the chewy noodles and how balanced the whole dish was.

Today, I had a lunch in this noodle restaurant with my family. First of all, my GPS didn't work well, so I had a difficulty to find this place. Anyway, I arrived here and all the tables were occupired. About 10 minutes later we got a table and order five noodles. They have two kinds of menu, noodle with pork rib and other one with pork belly. The texture of meat was so fresh. All of my family agreed that foods were amazing. I love to visit here again.

This cafe was perfect for a light snack prior to heading off to the hydrangea festival. They only have crepes in the way of food - one savory and one sweet option. Prices are good, and the fresh squeezed juices are heavenly. They also serve tea and coffee, and have a beautiful garden that you can explore at your leisure. Shisa dogs are spattered around the property, and you can have fun spotting them in unlikely places. If you are lucky, you might convince the friendly owner to play a sanshin tune for you in the samurai tea house

The narrow road leading to this place can be difficult to find. We arrived slightly after 11.30am (their opening hour) and there was already a queue formed. We had to wait about 20-30mins to enter. The setting is unique, non-air conditioned and has quite a number of seats. Thankfully, the wait was worth it as we found the pizza satisfying and portion was enough for 4 people.

After a half-day excursion to the outstanding Aquarium, we didn't feel like eating ripoff priced microwaved octopus balls under fluorescent lights at the said venue.
Glad we ended up at Fuu Cafe (about a 15 minute drive from the aquarium) because it is a quintessentially Okinawan culinary experience. The owner has combined its lovely rural setting and the wonderful food on offer into a magical time for you and yours. In my book it is inconceivable how anyone could describe this restaurant as average.

We visited this second outlet of this restaurant after discovering that the original outlet (only about 10 minutes away by car) was closed on Wednesdays. The ordering is by vending machine, with the menu limited to Okinawan soba in various sizes and rice. Good value for money - we spent about 1500 yen for 2 noodles and 2 rices.

This is a straightforward shop that serves one thing, and one thing only: shaved ice on top of zenzai (stewed, sweet red beans - served on the bottom under the shaved ice).
Procedures:
1. Go to vending machine and figure out how many servings you want.
2. Pay money, select serving size, collect ticket and change
3. Give ticket to the person in the kitchen area
4. Wait for delicious Delivery
I looked at the vending machine for a good long while trying to figure out if I was missing some other option but the only option I found was that one kind though I'm thinking they might have an option with rice cakes (I forgot to ask but you should ask and add a review!).

I live in Okinawa and I ventured out to Bise to see the Fugaki trees. It was late afternoon on a warm Spring day, so I was just looking for a cold drink and perhaps a light snack. There aren't many choices in Bise (that I could tell), but this was exactly what I wanted. They seated me on one of the couches with the coffee table (which is okay when one is alone, not eating a big meal, and doesn't mind sitting on a couch). The view of Ie Shima island is breathtaking. The menu has many exotic teas, which you can get hot or cold, and soba soups and other local fare. The presentation was beautiful and it was not overly expensive.

We wandered into this place by accident and loved it. It is just north of the Emerald Beach, about 10 minutes walk. Visitors can walk there along the coast or walk one block inland, in the tree shaded road. The neighborhood is very relaxing to stroll and then there is this nice little cafe.
The cafe is air conditioned or visitors can sit on the outdoor Terrace. The front of the cafe is large window panes to provide view of the ocean. The food and drink is very nice and the service is superb. We had a great afternoon tea chilling in the air con (after a bit of walk in the Okinawan summer heat), eating/drinking and watching the blue and Emerald sea.
