Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape Province), and 400 km west of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape Province. I have been visiting Hartenbos and this Spur for many years. Since a year ago, the quality of the food and the service have gone only downwards. The waiters are unfriendly, slow with their service and badly trained. You wait for ages before they eventually bring you a wrong order. A week ago I got a milkshake made of sour milk! We also ordered a J&T, only to receive the Gin. If this is the way this Spur operates during peak season, its doors will be closed before winter.Dear Tienie T,Thank you for taking the time to review our Takoda Spur restaurant. We happened to come to the mall for a quick man's haircut and stopped in to grab a quick bit. Ordered hamburgers, salad, fries and onion rings plus two beers. Everything was ok but far from exciting. We eat at the Pinnacle restaurant a couple of times per week.We like the quality of the food, and the prices are reasonable for the type of food served. I visited this place without getting any reference beforehand. Please stay away. You will find drunk rude locals inside, swearing and laughing loud. You will not be able to hear people with you because of the noise. No non smoking zone, average service, kitchen close early. Food was ok but very small portions. When I walked out the place I walk through people fighting outside, blood everywhere.

I have visited quite a number of Cattle Baron branches so I have come to expect high quality from them. While this restaurant has the same high quality ingredients and friendly staff, it fell flat a bit in some areas. Our waiter, although friendly, was swamped as they were short staffed so he couldn't be as attentive as I am sure he wanted to be. The seat at our table also had a big tear in the seating and I understand that these things do happen from time to time, but then it is up to the restaurant to place us at a table that is in good condition - they weren't fully booked. The manager on duty also did not seem very aware of what was going on in the restaurant. On the other hand our food was very good, I had their Surf & Turf and my wife the spare ribs, and they also have a pretty good wine list ranging from easy drinking to more premium options. I overall had a good time and will visit them again, but they do need to shake things up as the standard has been set very high.Good day. Thank you for your feedback. I would like to also inform you, the place is being sold and the new owners is in the process of doing the necesarry maintenance in order to put the restaurant up to standard again.
