We eat a lot, and have eaten in some terrible restaurants in our time but this place really is memorable!Quite frankly I dont know where to start because everything was just awful!In fact I can't be bothered to go into the details of each course but suffice it to say, the whole meal was hardly edible, so most of it went back to the kitchen and into the waste bin. This in itself I can live with if the bill reflected the low grade quality of food but unfortunately it did not. Again this I can live with, I can put it down to experience and console myself with the knowledge that they wont recieve any more of the thousands of Pounds we'll be spending in the local community over the coming years after we retire to the area.However the attitude of the owner in response to our refusal to eat their dog food says more about the useless business woman that owns the restaurant than it does about anything else, and this I can't accept. Hence your review, enjoy!

We found this place quite by chance, you pick the meats you want from a butcherâs style counter, they have steaks, sausages, bombettes, chicken wings and a whole host of local delicacies. They seat you in the restaurant and you can choose drinks, appetisers and side dishes for your mains. They were really helpful and friendly and this was the only place in Puglia that we visited more than once! Itâs full of locals and always busy so you know itâs going to be good and reasonably priced too.

Family wedding in Italy, a large group of us found this restaurant. Great food, great service. Plenty of room for our large group of thirty. Wine was great and inexpensive, the same for the food. A nice part of the town, shops, bars, restaurants, you can walk around for hours.

If you want fine dining this is not probably your scene BUT if you love great, uncomplicated food in a superb little town then this a must. The meat is renowned in this area, simple with great taste. Sat on roof top area overlooking Via Roma festival. Lovely atmosphere, cheap drinks, friendly helpful service, great value.

Beautiful food and wine, relatively cheap, brilliant staff and a wonderful setting for this small eatery perfect for a quick lunch or a romantic dinner surrounded by the white stone walls of the enchanting Cisternino. Ask for their Malvasia, it will blow your mind! Highly recommended!

This is one of the many "fornelli" common in Cisternino..not all are open on Sunday so we tried Vicolettta. The butcher shops have an osteria next door with a traditional brick oven where the meat is cooked. You choose the meat at the butcher, get a table, order the wine, antipasti, and vegetables....this is like eating at home. We chose a huge veal cutlet, bone in, "Bombette", and some rolled meat with spicey sausage inside. The wine was local (2.50euros a liter), the vegetables were baked smashed potatoes heated in the fornello, marinated (and wonderful) eggplant and artichokes. The meat was as tender as any I have had in Italy. It's simple food and nothing fancy so go here for the experience, keep your expectations in line, your nose situated at its normal level, and have an experience you won't get anywhere else. Plenty of fornelli to choose from in Cisternino. I give it four stars for the experience more than the food. Still we were satisfied. Good value/price ration, too. Families will be just fine here.
