This is a first rate restaurant with terrific food. There were really good salads, not too sweet, and the carpaccio, meatballs and lamb sliders were excellent. The first glass of wine didn't taste right but the others we ordered were good. Service was very efficient but our waiter wasn't engaging and seemed like he was not happy with the job. Despite this the ambiance is great, the menu is different from the ubiquitous Southern fare and we had a great night

I can't believe that La Morenita isn't top on the list for Mexican food in Lafayette. It's one of a handful of locations where you can actually find authentic Mexican tacos, empanadas, pozole, agua frescas, etc. Prices are extremely reasonable.The staff is super friendly & helpful & you can also buy wonderful fresh produce & Latin American groceries, there too.

It was cold outside and I was in the mood for soup, so I tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup. It was delicious with a rich broth and large chunks of vegetables. Because it only comes in one medium sized bowl, I ordered the beef tongue taco on the side. It was suggested to me by friends and proved to be as tender and tasty as they claimed.

Yesterday I had a delicious meal at this restaurant. Their 8oz ribeye (carne aside) dish was very good. I asked them to bring rice instead of tortillas and they were happy to accommodate my request with no extra charge. The people are very friendly and the atmosphere is family friendly. I recommend and will come back for more.
