we found this restaurant by mistake having been very disappointed by a terrible place up on the road where the cars park. we dropped down into casares down the steep streets and were delighted by the square and chose the top balcony of bodeguita. The food here is brilliant, service is professional and discreet. We left a good tip and highly delighted.

This was our first experience of Spanish food in Gaucín and we were thrilled to find this beautiful restaurant on our door step. The owner was so welcoming, we felt at ease and relaxed immediately. The restaurant is perched above a pretty town square and is decorated in a charming style. The very helpful owner helped us choose a combination of sharing dishes for our family to try. When they were served to us we were overwhelmed by the exquisite presentation and the taste was absolutely beautiful. Everything was so fresh and delicious...the salads and fruits were bursting with Spanish sunshine! The puddings - a brownie with caramel ice cream and fried milk (gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!) - completed our perfect meal.If you visit Gaucín you must try Azulete...it really is stunning! Thank you very much for your nice review!Pleasure to serve you and very happy that you enjoy our food, service and atmosphere.Thank you for coming!Best RegardsAzulete Team

We recently visited this restaurant as the reviews suggested it was suitable.I was somewhat disappointed as I felt it's not really family friendly, I suppose the fact that there's no kid's menu might have warned us. The view, I must admit is good, but the service was poor and the food was only average. Dry, over cooked calamari is not what I expected, will not be returning.

Visited with friends whom are regular visitors, located right on the roadside going up into the hills we were warmly welcomed by the staff. We had drinks outside whilst ordering and then moved inside to sit in the back room with fantastic views out of the huge windows. The food was lovely on the whole. Disappointingly several dishes were unavailable, many of them the desserts.....apparently the chocolate fondant is amazing but was unavailable due to the specialise being broken (or something along those lines)The starters and mains were great but the remaining dessert choices not so much. The creme brulee was very bland and the brownie dry.......however this would not put me off visiting again. Also, afterwards it's worth the few minute drive up the hill to the town of Casares to see the nightime views.

Friendly with excellent, modern Andalusia food and a dining room/terrace with great far-reaching views. In an elevated position on the main road running past the top of the village. Public parking nearby. Stylish interior, staff very helpful and spoke English. Food is a modern take on Andalusia cooking, beautifully presented. A mix of small plates and more main dishes plus pudding. My veggie partner found his options a bit limited, not unusual for Andalucia, but he said it was very good. I hope to visit again!

We went on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed.Arroyo Hondo is in a fantastic location up in the beautiful hills above the coast. Staff extremely helpful pleasant knowledgeable about the menu and attentive. The menu choice was superbly balanced and the food was perfectly executed. The local manzanilla olives with marinated in chili and garlic were amongst the best I’ve had anywhere. So impressed I purchased a jar from the restaurant to take home.We would gladly pass on the recommendation.

We dropped into this establishment on our first evening in Estepona, to avoid the hassle of cooking at home, and it was a very positive discovery – decent dishes, attentive if slightly slow (see below for details) service, and a very pleasant al fresco ambience in the small Plaza Joaquin Cortes. I think we’ll be back. No, it was not the fastest serving of dinner we have ever experienced, but it was a very entertaining experience for all that, and the charming hostess Fay had every reason to be somewhat under the cosh: the place was already more or less full, and a dozen Germans had then dropped on her from a great height and were consuming conspicuous amounts of food and complicated drinks. For once, this was NOT a case of slack customer service: the poor waiting staff were burning rubber all night. Anyway, a full restaurant is always a fun human zoo, so we had no trouble passing the time before the arrival of our starters of prawn fritters (nicely done) and wild mushroom soup (delicious, and - according to my wife - containing enough garlic to stop a vampire at thirty paces). These were followed at a respectful distance by a fruity & nutty salad with goat cheese, and in my case by some lamb chops. The chops were as juicy and tender as you like, and otherwise excellent, though I’d have probably used more rosemary, a bit less salt, and some of the garlic from the soup, but that’s just me. A digestif was thrown our way (quite unnecessarily, really) for the “inconvenience” of having to wait while the bucolic Germans were attended to. The bill was very reasonable, encouraging us to go again. Actually, now I come to think of it, we HAVE to go back: I asked for a doggie bag for my left-over baby potatoes and stuffed red pepper, and in the confusion of our leaving, I clean forgot to take it! Recommended – might be worth booking, too.Thank you so much for your thoughtful review...YES...was a busy night and I just loved reading your descriptive review! Made me laugh! Yes, the Germans...were very thirsty and almost drank my bar dry! One round of drinks for the table emptied a whole bottle of gin or more! I must admit the next day I did have to take my shoes to get resoled.....so I can definitely say I certainly did literally burn rubber! Thank you for the lovely review will be a memory I will never forget! Hope to see you again soon! Doggie bag went to a good home woof woof! Fay
