The natural river eel distinguishes itself with its firm texture and fresh taste, two critical attributes simply not found in frozen and farmed varieties. The deep fried river shrimps and eel bones are worth checking out. Deep fried hairy crabs are also available in the Autumn.

This was the best meal we had at any restaurant in Japan for three weeks. On a recommendation from the hosts of our accommodation we went to Chika and were absolutely thrilled. We tried their seared bonito, mackerel specialty, fried prawns, and many more delicious dishes. Our children were very well looked after and even got to try out the pulley tray that came up from the kitchen through the restaurant to the second floor. The owner was very generous and we will never forget the wonderful evening we had here. Value was exceptional.
