Catfish Galley

Reviewed By JannS8

Lately, I have had nothing but heartache from people in the service industry. Sears has left us with lies and a broken $2700 refrigerator for going on three weeks---it's under warranty folks, fifth repair in two years. It is under this dark cloud that I entered Catfish Galley. Well, that lasted about two seconds. We were warmly greeted by every server in the place. Smiles everywhere! All for me and my cheerful yellow dress! After weeks of bad relationships, here was the remedy I needed---the milk of human kindness! I was on cloud 9 before I was even seated. I have noticed here that others seem to love or hate this warm greeting, but maybe their refrigerators at home work.We noticed they seem to have new carpet since our last visit two years ago, and the whole place was neat and clean. Unfortunately, there is a darkness to the dining room which can make it seem old, but don't mistake it for being grungy. That's what kept us away, and that's just sad.The food here is good! The service is great! I love the catfish, clams, and Cajun shrimp. The absolute best thing I got was the fried green tomatoes. Tangy and crisp and perfect. The onion rings don't suck at all, and the hush puppies are sweet and crunchy.Every server made sure we had drink refills, hush puppies, and wanted for nothing. It seemed to be everybody's job to treat us like royalty. Why just Catfish Galley? It isn't the poshest, but they out shine the $150 a plate places by far. Many other servers seem so angry from start to finish, why does Catfish Galley have such high standards? This warmth was shared with every person in the room. This is why I was able to laugh off the lifeless cashier! I went up to personally compliment the workers and food, and she couldn't have cared less! So I wonder who among the people I met there didn't get the memo? I hoped I could cheer her up with my enthusiasm, but it was a gift she didn't care to open. Now I am worried for her and hope she is OK while I wait to see if Sears shows up on June 4.

Bubba Gandy Seafood

When you are in central TN it is not easy to find excellent seafood and I was stunned at the quality and variety offered by Bubba Gandy Seafood. In addition to the fresh seafood market there are many Cajun selections which are prepared for take out and just need heating. I will post a copy of menu from Oct 2016 to show the variety. I purchased two 9 oz lobster tails ($14.99 ea), very large gulf white shrimp ($15.99 lb), and beautiful salmon filets ($14.99 lb). They also offer crab/shrimp boil seasoning and many seafood related market items. They will also prepare a shrimp/crab boil and add corn, potatoes, and sausage. Now for the true test. Every seafood item I purchased was excellent - perfectly fresh and firm (nothing worse than mushy seafood), and well received by my guests. I would love a good place like this in San Antonio. Easy in and out and great parking. They do take credit cards. And the owners were so helpful.
