My husband and I were in Dartmouth for the day on a sunny Sunday trip from Exeter . We strolled around looking at all lunch options and prices . The George and Dragon was a real find . Not on the front but still central it was spotless and the staff friendly and attentive. Their fish and chips were piping hot and yummy AND at least £3 cheaper than anywhere else we found . Thoroughly recommended.

Visited for breakfast whilst on holiday as it had been recommended to us. We both had eggs benedict, one with bacon and one with smoked salmon. Friendly service and tasty food. It is slightly pricey but for the quality of food, definitely worth it if you fancy treating yourself. Thank you for your great review. We are glad that you enjoyed your breakfast with ushere at Below Decks.

The food here is lovely, had freshly cooked fish and chips for our family. They held a table for us and called us when we were ready which was very helpful ! The service was very slow though both in restaurant and in take away, we used both throughout the week. Would come again though.Delighted to hear you enjoyed your food so much, sorry for the slow service but as you could no doubtsee we are VERY busy this time of the year, I'm pleased to say! This is deservedly a busy place - so would recommend booking. There is a wide variety of fish - fresh from the catch that day - your server will tell you what's being served that night. Great starters - oysters, scallops, squid, smoked salmon etc., - which are on the daily regular menu - and then - more fish! I had traditional fish and chips - really good. The chips with all the meals are unlimited; apparently the record is eight servings although I thought one was fine although a couple of our group managed two. The curried mushy peas were fabulous - would visit here again for those alone. Service professional and good. Do visit the loos!

Four of us visited last week and adored the place. The scallops were the best ever (quoted by 2 New Zealanders so quite a compliment!!) Every course was just so incredibly good. Staff were very professional and pleasant, we liked being able to watch the chef's at work.There was a wait to be seated and as we had first sitting we were a bit concerned, but we weren't rushed at all at any time. You really should go !

My family treated me to a very special lunch at the Anchorstone. From arrival to departure, we were all thrilled with our visit. Wonderful food, really difficult to chose as so much choice. Staff so friendly and helpful, best venue we have been to for a while. I would thoroughly recommend a visit here for families or couples. They do get very busy in peak times, so best to book ahead. Enjoy

We spotted the Laughing Monk driving through Strete and thought it sounded interesting. So we booked online. Best decision ever!The restaurant is in an old school building but beautifully decorated and laid out. The staff were friendly and service excellent.My husband had scallops, beautifully cooked. I had a goats cheese brulee with pickled pear - delicious.For main I had plaice with seaweed and prawn butter and green veg. My husband had the special - haddock with saffron potatoes. Both were gorgeous.To finish I had ginger beer sorbet with a shot of rum. My husband had a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream. Perfect end to a lovely meal.Price was very reasonable given the quality - would definitely recommend.Check opening times before you turn up - they are only open certain days.

We have Visited Dartmouth regularly for quite a few years and always look forward to dining at Taylor's. Attentive staff, lovely atmosphere, very prompt service. All the dishes are cooked to perfection and the confit of duck is the best we have tasted. The restaurant is small but beautifully decorated with a view of the river and Kingswear from the large bow window.A perfect place to dine. ..

We were on holiday in Dartmouth for my partners 30th birthday, we have a four month old son who we would be taking out with us to dinner along with my partners mum and brother. I emailed ahead to check there would be enough space for us to keep our son in his pram as heâs not big enough to go in a high chair. Sarah promptly messaged me back saying this would be fine. Once we arrived at the restaurant she informed us that she hadnât taken a reservation on the table of two next to ours to ensure we had enough space for our pram and even turned away walk inâs throughout the evening for this table. She really went above and beyond what we expected in regards to the service and making sure we had a comfortable experience. Needless to say the food and drink that followed was impressive, the duck main and chocolate fondant especially. I donât often leave reviews but feel compelled to as the level of service we received was exceptional.
