We arrived late into Carnarvon on a Sunday evening after a long drive from Ningaloo Reef and found the shops shut. Not having the energy to wander out for dinner we opted for one of the very few takeaway places open. It didnât exactly start well when we asked what fish they would recommend. The server looked blankly at us whilst the older gent (the owner I guess) said absolutely nothing. We opted for grilled emperor and crumbled snapper. Both were excellent and huge servings. Sadly the chips were rather disappointing, lacking any really taste and despite asking for salt and vinegar, these were barely noticeable. Small portion as well.

Midweek lunch, a bit out of town but opposite the water - worth the short drive. The restaurant was nothing fancy but the grilled fish, salad & chips were delicious. The fish was perfectly grilled, not dry, with a choice of 1 or 2 pieces. The chips were hot & crunchy on the outside with a soft potato inside & not overly salted. The salad was fresh from locally grown produce with a tasty dressing. The wine by the glass was nice & not overly priced. Friendly service.

Our secret is fresh. We are very spoilt by location to Carnarvonâs abundant produce sourced and grown right here. This is very hard to do with the distances our food has to travel around all the major cities in Australia. The Seafood here is caught on our

Never had better prawns anywhere. And the meals were excellent. We had Green Prawn curry and Pad Thai, both with Tiger Prawns.Every full moon the Prawn Trawlers make their way back to Carnarvon with their prized catch of Fresh Tiger and King Prawns. These prawns are processed as they are caught at sea. Packaged and blast frozen to keep their freshness all on board their vessel. So the Full Moon is a great time of the month for us here at âA Taste of Thai by Fonâ. We get to enjoy world class fresh produce straight from the boat. Our fish has a fresh story also. Gail and Bruce are our local fish mungers. They coordinate all of the fresh fish that can be sourced here in Carnarvon. Fresh fish daily on our doorstep at âPickels Point Seafoodâ.

The buffet here is good wholesome food all the salads were home made , I was there for the Aussie night bascic but good selection of steak , lamb chicken and rissoles fresh veggies just a good wholesome meal . What I call honest food . Friendly service a true country motel .We are so pleased you enjoyed what we call the 'Aussie" or "Meat Lovers" buffet and your spot on with the "Honest Food" comment. The scotch fillet steak with a mushroom or pepper sauce and lashings of creamy mash potato is always a winner. You'll have to come and try the smorgasbord on a different night maybe the Asian on Wednesday or Seafood on Friday & Saturday. I'll pass your comments on to the kitchen. Thanks again.
