Had an excellent 4cours meal,with just the right wines to each meal. The staff were welcoming,friendly and with a lot of knowledge about food and wine.Cozy atmosphere. In December, almost all restaurants in Norway prefers to serve the traditional Christmas buffet.This menu is ok once in a week, but not every day during a business trip!Thus, here at Strom Mat & Bar they offer alternatives and their entrecote accompanied with a Bordeaux St. Emilion Grand Cru 2012; Chateau de la Cour (at a reasonable price - to be in Norway!) Waiting to be served the main dish we were offered local bread from 'Harmoni HÃ¥ndverksbakeri AS' (Porsgrunn) - really cruncy, tasty, excellent together with a cheese (sorry, forgot the name).We really enjoyed it! Not to mention the nice view over the lake directly outside their windows. As we were blessed with a snowfall during our dinner increased the feeling of 'value for money'!We'll be back!The story is now spread across Europe!

The hotel receptionist highly recommended this restaurant to me, and I tried it out. The meat was tender, so I didn't need to spit any of it out (which is the rule when ordering meat in Norwegian restaurants), but everything else was just average, including the sauce and the potatoes au gratin. Not bad, just average, hence the disappointment. Service was great, and the ambience rustic and pleasant. Huge drinks selection. But I'm not tempted to recommend this place or try my luck again. Sorry.

We higly recommend the hotel`s restaurant and lobbybar. We take pride in offering top quality menue at reasonable prices. Fish meals are our speciality.
