RP's Stage Stop

RP's Stage Stop is a local business in the town of Tusayan, located just one mile south of the entrance to the Grand Canyon. We have excellent specialty coffees as well as breakfast and lunch sandwiches, made to order. In our gift shop, we have an extensive collection of Native American Jewelery as well as the most USA made souviners near the South Rim.

The price was $8 for a ham/cheese sandwich. I was the 5th person in line to place order (and that part went quickly). I waited almost 30 minutes for them to prepare it. They had 2 people taking orders and 2 people (sometimes only one person) making the sandwiches. Sandwich was nothing to write home about. Bread was okay sort of dry (I ordered sourdough), ham and cheese were fine. Rest of family went next door to Wendy's, ordered, ate, and came back to meet me and waited about 15 minutes for me to get my order. I ended up taking it to go in the car so we could get back on the road.
Positive note: it was the healthy option.

There was however, a great selection of coffee options, not sure how long it would take to put those together.

Phantom Ranch

Reviewed By LaurieJanean - Logan, Utah

Phantom Ranch, at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, reached only on foot or by mule, offers guests two dinner seatings, each with a different "menus," both served "family style."

For us, plates of enormous steaks, huge baked potatoes, giant bowls of salad, cornbread, chocolate cake...and other foods were placed on the table...and hungry hikers/riders dug in. The food was basic, but good.

A southwest style vegetarian chili was served about two hours later, for those who had reserved that dinner seating. We heard it was good also.

Incidentally, the food for this restaurant is delivered by mule train...or helicopter if the trails are impassible.

I read a couple of negative before trying out this dining experience and was very pleasantly surprised that it was the opposite. I found the Conrado to be a wonderful dining option in the limited selection available in this area. The service was excellent, the menu diverse and the cuisine of fine quality. I would highly recommend this place located inside the Best Western Hotel.

I recently had dinner at El Tovar with my family while visiting the Grand Canyon. It was a wonderful place for dinner. Reservations are definitely required. It is a very busy restaurant. The ambiance is beautiful and the food was delicious. They were also able to accomodate my son who is gluten free. Great time, highly recommend!

We stopped by hoping for something better than the food inside the National Park. Not 100% sure this was a success. We had pizza and a salad- with such limited options in that area, at least they had seating, pitchers of beer, and the pizza was edible.

My husband and I stopped for a small bite to eat, a cold beer and and even caught a final sports event on a close by TV. We had spend the day in the Canyon Park and Big E's was perfect. Not too busy, but busy enough to see people in and out. He had the soup and some fries- really liked them both- hot soup served in a big mug was his favorite. I had the mushroom/cream cheese wontons- loved them (fried, but after walking for 5 hours, I could justify!)

I got a Reuben and it was $8.50 for just a sandwich all by itself! Not much meat in it and as you can see in the 2nd picture, the back side of 1 of the sandwich halves was missing a good chunk of the bread! It took too long to come and it was frustrating watching how slow the 2 guys moved that were making the food and I didn't understand why another guy was watching them and not helping them!
