The views were greatm the carvings were incredible and the food was delicious at a fair price. Quite honestly, we were leery of stopping at first, as it was the only restaurant for MILES...but it was well worth it. We both had the philly cheesesteak...MoreGlad you stopped by! Please come again.

My husband and I were staying in the area and decided to eat out in the Inn one evening. We sat in the dining room overlooking the river - cloth tablecloths, flowers on the table and hanging outside on the porch - very welcoming atmosphere. Jaimie was quick to ask our name and we visited during the dinner service - it was a very pleasant dining experience. We had the macaroni and cheese, pasta Alfredo and salad and soup (butternut squash) - all was served hot and quickly and the serving so large we took some home. The food was tasty and seasoned well. We checked out the menu and would have been happy with the lunch menu as well. Good variety of food. We will come back!

The Kennebec River Pub & Brewery is our full-service restaurant at The Forks Resort Center. The pub shares space in our grand, open-timbered main lodge with our Kennebec River Brewery, home to several fine handcrafted ales and lagers. The brewery is also on the Maine Beer Trail. We utilize fresh, local foods to the fullest in our hearty breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes. We serve delightful pub fare with a mouthwatering selection of jumbo burgers, our famous beer battered onion rings, and Northern Nacho's - a heaping stack of tortilla chips with a melted blend of Monterey Jack & Cheddar cheeses, jalapenos, black olives, onions & tomatoes. And nothing compliments pub fare any better than a fresh, handcrafted beer from our Kennebec River Brewery!

We were driving to Canada and spotted this brewery at lunch time. It was a good find, and we did a beer tasting (good) and had a fine lobster roll with fries.Thank you for this review, Virginia. Glad you spotted our resort and could stop in for some lunch and a beer! Our Kennebec River Brewery & restaurant offer up some great choices. Hope you swing by again!

Our family stopped for dinner at Rachel's in mid-August on our way to Canada. The reviews were good and the restaurant was comfortable and homey, so we were hopeful we'd get a good meal. The restaurant was moderately full while we were there, but not busy.
We ordered the pizza that is billed as the restaurant's specialty, along with a broccoli and cheese appetizer. The appetizer arrived on time, but every piece of it was still frozen inside, as if it had been made long ago and not heated up enough. We then spent a considerable amount of time watching other tables of people come in and get served delicious-looking pizza that was browned and bubbly on top, with a crisp homemade-looking crust. When we realized that many of these customers had come in after we had, we asked our server how our pizza was coming along, as our young boys were really getting hungry. She went back to the kitchen to check on it, then returned to our table and explained that they had two ovens and our pizza had been put in "the really slow one" so it was taking longer than expected.
We looked forward to receiving our own delicious pizza, but unfortunately, it was not to be. Our pizza arrived about 5 minutes later, and it looked nothing like what we'd seen on the other tables. It was swimming in greasy half-melted cheese, the pepperoni was barely warm, and the crust was doughy and uncooked. We were so disappointed! We didn't eat more than a few bites of the pizza even though we were all ravenous by this point; it tasted awful and we were afraid it might make us sick. We were all tempted to leap up and grab a slice of beautiful-looking pizza off one of the other tables!
Given that our pizza was barely cooked through, we suspect that there was never a "slow oven" problem, but that our pizza order was just forgotten by our server or the kitchen then hastily assembled and heated for a minimal (and insufficient) amount of time. That pizza never should have made it to a table. Our server was polite, but why not just tell us that there had been a mistake, bring us another appetizer on the house, then take the time to cook us a delicious pizza we could eat? Our server did the right thing by not charging us for any part of the meal, but we felt disappointed that we had wasted over an hour not getting any dinner in our family's stomachs. There are not a lot of dinner choices in this sparsely populated area of Maine, and it was getting late, so we wound up eating a "dinner" of Triscuits and ice cream purchased at a small shop up the road.
It is clear that Rachel's has some significant problems with its kitchen. Hopefully, the restaurant will choose to educate its staff and focus on food safety and quality so that it can produce consistently good food for every customer. Until then, I wouldn't recommend eating there.
