Sun Lakes is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The population was 13,975 at the 2010 census. Sun Lakes is an active adult community comprising five active adult country club communities in three homeowner associations. These include the gated communities of Oakwood and IronWood (IronOaks), and the gated and non-gated communities of Palo Verde and Cottonwood (Cottonwood Palo Verde), and the non-gated community of Sun Lakes 1. Sun Lakes is a master-planned community developed by a single builder, Robson Communities. Robson Communities was founded by Ed Robson.

Gorgeous facility: but, took a while to get seated. THEY STILL DON'T HAVE COCKTAIL FORKS!!! We, and others have complained to wait staff before. It would be embarrassing to bring friends to such a nice appearing place, order the fantastic Shrimp Cocktail they serve there, and have to eat it with your dinner fork. This happened again last week and the waitress brought back a couple of forks smaller than the regular fork, but still not the customary tiny cocktail fork. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.

This is the place I order from when I do not feel like cooking. I have never eaten in only taken out. Their food is always fresh and tasty. From when I order it is usually 10 to 15 minutes until I pick it up. Good food, fast friendly service, never been disappointed.

Nice break from Starbucks or Dutch Bros or if you avoid either.
This is a cool place, with a much younger crowd in the early afternoon.
Very busy and well staffed. Be patient.
If you're in a hurry, leave your vehicle running while you move the drive thru.
No, wait! That's generally best avoided and exercise is generally a good thing.

Restaurant is close to our house. We love Mexican food. But not the way they serve it. Enchiladas were hard to cut with provided plastic forks. Probably ground beef would have been better. They overloaded both our tacos and enchiladas with lettuce. Make the meal look bigger I guess. Don't know. Service was slow as they had two cooks (working very hard) and one Cashier (working rather slowly) who had to take the orders as well as serve them.

This is one of several restaurants in the Active Adult Community of Sun Lakes. Sun Lakes was originally developed by Robson, but all the restaurants are now owned by one of the three HOA's in greater Sun Lakes. Palo Verde is one of the restaurants open to the public. They have a nice buffet brunch on Sunday and generally good meals the rest of the day in a nice setting, for couples or groups.

We stopped at this MacDonald's for a quick breakfast to go. The drive through was very busy, so we opted to go inside. We place our order and was back out again in just a few minutes - much faster than would have been expected. The food was hot and fresh. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean and well maintained. We were pleased with our experience at this MacDonald's.

Our Country Club had a poolside Luau which could have been great had it been better managed. The ambiance was great. The management was greatly lacking. At the start time of 4PM, dozens of guests were looking for a non-existent "Watering Hole". Sun was out and complaining thirsty guests were everywhere. Once the bars were set up, huge lines formed both the indoor and outdoor bars. I stood in line at the outside bar for over 15 minutes only to be told I had to get in the other line if I wanted a light beer. Another 15 minutes and I finally got my beer. Actually I got two of them, on for my wife as well. Now I had beers with glasses trying to get through a locked poolside gate. Only having two hands made it very difficult. I mentioned to a worker (that was also having to lift up the gate lock) that they should wire the gate open for the evening. She agreed, but was just a temp worker. What added to my frustration was they had 4-5 workers at an entrance handing out leis to the few people yet arriving, while the bars had only one or two servers each. Another example of complete mis-management. I left the $3.50/beer Luau before the dinner buffet because I just couldn't stand seeing all the mismanagement going on all around me. They should have had everything set up and running at the announce starting time.
