If you are there off season or would rather enjoy some snow-free activities, the Raven Golf Club has a dramatic 18-hole championship style golf course where you can enjoy all the mountain beauty there is to offer while working on your game. Pamper yourself with a day at Spa Vantage, or spend a day with the family at the Big Top amusement park.

Foxfire Grille

We ate dinner here while on a weekend trip to Snowshoe. The menu is the most diverse in the village. They have a good bar. I had the chicken fried steak and my wife had burger. We also had some wings. All were good. They have a good selection of beers. I would eat here again.

Ofcourse the coffee was great but the breakfast burrito was still frozen when I took a bite. Next month when I come up I will definitely be bringing my own breakfast.

Waffle Cabin

Reviewed By Allieooooops - Washington, DC

I don't often give a true perfect score but the Waffle Cabin waffle was truly delectable. We first went to the Boat House which traditionally had waffles but no luck and the workers weren't sure if it was just because it's summer or if all waffles are gone for good. So back up the scenic chairlift (even a nice ride for the 2 year old) to the Waffle Cabin at the top of the lift.

These aren't your normal waffle, the sugar gets baked in. Don't ask me how but it's true. It was a slow time and we were given a sample and the process was explained to us but the only part we retained was that they were super yummy and someone else would cook them for us. We sat on a bench and watched the people on the chair lift. A lovely relaxing break. We got the plain and while chocolate is tempting, the plain was a treat just as it was. They sold Waffles. And drinks. And Waffles.

We were told this is a chain, specializing in ski areas. We will look them up at other resorts and certainly return when we're at Snowshoe. (Snowshoe has two locations but only the one behind Highland House is open in the summer.)

Old Spruce Cafe and Tavern

Reviewed By 2BEis2SKI - Charlotte, NC

Here's the thing that we discovered in the eateries on Snowshoe. At least as far as our experiences went, everyone was super nice. Prices were not that bad considering where you are and the food mostly met our needs.

We stopped in for lunch after a morning on the slopes. The menu is not extensive but there are some decent sandwich and wrap options. My son got a Cuban. I had a chicken wrap. Both were $10 and with water to drink, we were out of there at about $25.

There are tables and a bar. This is not a huge space but late season, stopping in at 12:45p, we had no issues getting a table or service.

Old Spruce, like all the other places, is a super easy walk from the Ballhooter lift so you stick your skis in the snow, go eat and then return to the mountain.

Tough to argue with any of that.

Cheat Mountain Pizza Company

I've been coming to Snowshoe for years but had never eaten Cheat Mtn Pizza until now. I like that they have moved to the old Mexican restaurant because it's roomy and has a nice bar. The pizza was expensive, but we are at a ski resort and price gouging is expected. The server was very good and the pizza was tasty. I'll definitely be back

Route 66 Snowboard and Ski Shop

Route 66 is located at the bottom of Snowshoe mountain and is not part of the Snowshoe resort

The question marks are because I don't even know what to call this place. They serve food. They have all sorts of touristy knick knacks. They rent ski/snowboard equipment (we'll definitely rent here instead of on the mountain the next time). They sell furniture (upstairs). They sell clothing. They sell fudge. Probably more than that. And, it's located right next to a stream which you see out the windows.

Breakfast all day. Sandwiches and pizzas. I had a breakfast platter. The ham was shaved ham. My son had a pizza. None of it award winning but it was fine.

This definitely has the feel of a locals place or a place that visitors return to again and again. It just grows on you while you are there.

Service throughout was good. The folks that work here are just really nice.

When we're in the area again, I'm sure we'll stop by.

The Fiddlehead Restaurant and Bar

Reviewed By Hamelia - Columbus, Ohio

We were staying down the road at the Morning Glory Inn, and the owner recommended the Fiddlehead for dinner, saying that even though it was a “bar and grill,” the food was actually good. He was right!

We were there early on a Friday evening, and a musician was going to start playing at 8:30 - we were gone long before that, however. Although the menu leans heavily toward high-class burgers (local, grass-fed, hormone & antibiotic-free beef) and interesting-sounding pizzas, we opted to each order a special - my husband had the crab cake platter, and I had the soft-shell crab dinner. Both were really good -- and copious. Although I rarely eat deep-fried foods, I was a happy eater of 2 fried crabs and the accompanying not-too-salty French fries, none of which was at all greasy or heavy. Mine also came with corn on the cob, which hit a few spots with me. My husband was equally happy with his crab cakes, which were large and round. They were good enough he didn’t even offer me a taste!

Service was very friendly and the whole place had a happy vibe. The folks seated near us who ordered pizza were also delighted with their choices.

Nothing exciting but perfectly acceptable option for lunch or snack while out on the slopes. Burgers are fine. BBQ is pretty good. Decent selection. Pretty quick service. Discount offered to pass holders. Only one bathroom for each sex and they weren’t clean....and always a line to use.
