The black raspberry was fabulous. All other items (lemon, shakes, etc) were enjoyed by family. Mini golf is fun! Quick & friendly service.

M & M Courtyard Cafe & Coffeehouse

Reviewed By chalce - Quartzsite, Arizona

We went here because we read the previous reviews. The biscuits and gravy was probably the best we've ever had on the road. It's a quaint restaurant with good coffee. The breakfast selection was biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwich, quiche and sweet rolls. That was it. I believe they offered lunch but they were closed when we went by at 2 pm.

Denny's

Service great. If you can can call getting awful food.quickly great. Got the beef shish kabob from the senior menu. She told me it was tender. It was unchewable .the sauce cloyingly sweet. Vegetables overcooked. The water tasted.stale. so I paid my bill and asked for the manager. She said there we're lots of complaints on that dish AND on the senior chicken dish.??? Why still serve it? So she gave me a 5.00 card for breakfast. I came in next a.m.. Fruit tasted moldy. Coffee undrinkable. Eggs perfect. Potatoes okay .So good staff. Uneatable food.

We visited Dairy Queen with two families and four young children. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and the food (while typical Dairy Queen faire) was good. Dessert of course was top notch though! This is a small DQ, but if you're looking for a sweet treat and/or a meal this is a great place to stop!

Independent restaurant. Family owned for 30 years.

The pizza was very good! You order and then it is brought to your table. We paid around $12 for a pizza that served the two of us. Next time, I might try a different restaurant, but we were happy with our meal.

Applebee's

Reviewed By MikeD587 - Effingham, Illinois

We had not been to this location since our last visit which was free because of the issues the prior time. We arrived at about 6pm on Saturday we were somewhat surprised that it was not very busy. But we later figured out why this was likely the situation. We were seated quickly and had no issues with the waitress. She was very prompt on refilling drinks and responding to us. I had ordered sweet tea, but she told me they were currently making some fresh. I told her that unsweet would be just fine, she then promised to bring out sweet tea whenever it was made. We picked out an appetizer, and ordered it. She quickly got it put in, and came back after we had selected our meals. In no time at all we had the wonton tacos at our table and quickly ate them. We waited, and waited for our food, noticing it was taking a while to come to the table. The waitress did come and tell us it should be up soon. She then returned and said that she thought my wife's burger was a little too raw so she made them cook it longer. When our plates arrived we were disappointed. The wife had grease all over the edge of her plate obviously where they had to cook her burger for longer. And mine have a bunch of pasta and very little chicken. While we were eating, we noticed the table behind us was also having issues. They asked how much longer for their meals, and the waitress went and checked and then came back and apologized saying the kitchen normally runs tickets around 14 minutes, and they were running them around 20 minutes. She told them they would be getting part of their meals discounted. The food arrived brought out by a male dressed as a manager. The woman then got up and went over and tapped him on the shoulder and had him come to the table. She informed him that her shrimp did not taste good, they did not taste like they had been cooked enough and where not colored as though they had. The manager apologized, and took the plate insisting that he would go and remake them some himself. The waitress returned and offered them desserts on her or the house. This was what was upsetting to me, our meals had taken quite a while as well, although maybe not as long, or as poorly prepared. I noticed the manager had been making rounds to tables, but skipped ours and did not visit to check on things. Seemed he was more interested in the baseball game on TV, as well as trying to cook since his kitchen couldn't function without help. We will once again put this location on our not suggested, and not returning list.

Five Brothers Cafe

Reviewed By 92lawrencer - Chicago

For good home style country cooking Five Brothers Café in Salem Illinois is a good stop if you're traveling through Southern Illinois on I-57. Great friendly service in a family style atmosphere serving good home made meals. The breakfast menu is loaded with great selections. The soups are home made and the sandwiches are nicely loaded. Eating here brought back memories of when I was a kid traveling down to my great grandparents farm in Southern Illinois. Small cafes with great food where everyone made you felt welcomed. The café is about 1mile just west of I-57.

Sharon's Cafe

Reviewed By BilllyBob E - Florida

Sharon's has been around for years. Love her meatloaf and when home always stop in for lunch. This trip was no different. Goid food as always. Service is always fast foid us always hot.

My wife loves the coconut creme pie. Filling just right ...crust is always wonderful. But have to stop there. Seems pie makers have forgotten how to make meringue. Nothing better than a meringue topped pie. The STUFF they top creme pies with today is not good. Reallly destroys a good pie.

Sharon bring back the meringue and you will get an excellent.
