The American Hotel

Reviewed By FlaGolfer55 - Pembroke Pines, Florida

I took my father to have dinner at The American Hotel and the food was excellent. Of course, we had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner but the wait staff performed flawlessly. A couple of observations though. First, the hotel does not have dedicated parking. You park on the street or in a little alley way adjacent to the hotel. For Thanksgiving this would be no problem but when the summer crowd arrives, parking is at a premium. The second is that it was just a tad chilly in the restaurant. Everytime someone arrived, the cold air seeped through the restaurant.

Sagtown Coffee

Reviewed By PAM_from_LINY - NY NY

After the fire that engulfed the Sag Harbor Cinema, Sagtown Coffee closed down and we were bereft of our favorite cafe. It re-opened this summer, newly expanded into the storefront that opens onto Main Street. The service area is bigger with more signs and food selections. The coffee is excellent, and the cookies--in particular the chocolate chip--are some of the best around. The sound carries now and it is less intimate. The seating isn't as comfortable as it was before. My friend commented how we had been to Sagtown only a couple of days before the fire and there had been at the next table a man playing a guitar with a dog laying at his feet. The place is now so new it is doubtful the old dog would be allowed in. We looked around and the same people were there today that were there right before the fire, all the regulars have returned. The coffee and crowd is the same, I hope they make the place a little more cozy and intimate, which was one of the most appealing characteristics of the old place. Nonetheless it is wonderful Sagtown has returned.

Grindstone Coffee and Donuts

Reviewed By Nan F - Stamford, Connecticut

These are the best donuts I've had anywhere in New York. Huge, light and fluffy. Lemon poppy and cinnamon sugar are great. I have to go back now that I saw someone reviewed chocolate with sea salt. Dark roast coffee also good. Friendly, intelligent staff, not being pressured to perform as "baristas" are considerably nicer than chain coffee shop staff. And far less harried.

Page: Restaurant is a modern American restaurant in the heart of historic Sag Harbor. In addition to our Aquaponic Garden, where fresh organic produce is cultivated in-house, renowned Executive Chef James Carpenter engages local farmers and fisheries to bring the best of the East End directly to your table. Page: Restaurant provides a relaxed and elegant atmosphere with a year-round atrium room and seasonal outdoor dining.

Page is open year round which might explain it’s consistently excellent food and service. Menu is varied with interesting daily specials. We recently had their daily special, duck two ways, which should be added to the menu as it was perfect.

Another outstanding dish is their fish or shrimp in a curry sauce. We have had it several times, and great preparation with veggies and sticky rice.

Buddhaberry Ice Cream And Yogurt

After seeing the 4th of July fireworks, I was on the hunt for ice cream and we walked by Buddhaberry. Think: your standard froyo spot but with way better flavors and fancy toppings, ala toasted quinoa and the like. So yummy and reasonably priced. They also offer baked goods.

Provisions

Reviewed By PAM_from_LINY - NY NY

This is a nice lunch option, Provisions has a nice selection to choose from and the atmosphere is friendly and bustling. The grocery area has a variety of veggies, spreads, supplements etc. It's a great place to explore as well. The prices are outrageously high for their groceries but the items offered are hard to find in the area. The staff is not overly warm and fuzzy and the few times I have had questions, I have opted to search my smartphone as opposed to asking the staff.

Excellent dinner experience as usual. The raw bar selection is outstanding. I've tried this time their cauliflower, excellent! Then I had their Cassoulet and it made me travel back to my beloved south west of France. Enjoyed the bar scene as well. Highly recommended restaurant

Charming location and convenient parking, outdoor waiting ' park ' in the back when they get busy. ( which is most times ) We always go early ! Excellent filling breakfast dishes of all kinds with a distinctive latin flavor on alot of dishes, although regular breakfast items are offered too. Small place has counter and 2 small rooms of seating. Fairly pricey for what it is I have only eaten Breakfast there, so far.

This bakery is hidden off of Division Street, a hole in the wall. They have a lot of wonderful items, spinach and feta cheese croissants, chocolate croissants, cakes, pies, brownies...the coffee is delicious, the staff is friendly. I only discovered them this autumn and have made it a regular part of my excursions.

Starting with the great garlic knots, followed by an antipasto, we all had fabulous dinners, each different. Lobster ravioli, fresh and tasty. Salmon with cream pepper sauce very tender, cooked well and delicious. Veal parm, a classic, done perfectly , great sauce. Finally fresh scallops with risotto, veggies and asparagus. Yummy!
Most enjoyable!
