Republic Brewing Company

A down home friendly place to enjoy craft beer, homemade soda, wine and grub! We often have live music, triva, and lots of other events – something for everyone!

Reviewed By Kay T

Welcoming to both tourists and locals, knowledgeable wait staff, and well made beer---what more could we ask? This brewery is in an old fire station. On the sunny autumn evening we were there, the old garage door was opened to the street, music was playing, free peanuts were on the table and there was a good mix between locals and visitors. The waitress kindly explained to us that this was a brewery, no food was prepared there, but they had an arrangement with "Freckles" next door to have take out available. So we went next door, ordered dinner and went back to brewery where our perfectly brewed IPA & porter were promptly served. 15 minutes later we got a "buzz" that our dinners were ready for pickup. Locals chatted it up with us. The local women's knitting group enjoying a brew & knitting on the couch made us smile. We will definitely stop by next time we go through Republic!

Freckles' Gourmet BBQ

Friendly, casual atmosphere with great food made from scratch. We feature daily chef's specials in addition to our regular menu. We serve a variety of beer and wine, including two selections on tap from our neighbor, the Republic Brewing Company.

Most restaurants in this small town seem to have pretty good reviews on Trip Advisor, but I've been to a number of them in the past, and would not have rated most quite as favorably. Freckles will be my new favorite spot in this town.
We enjoyed the Friday evening fish taco special. The pico de gallo was the best--so fresh and flavourful. My preference for fish taco's is grilled fish, but even though this was deep fried, it was very good.
I don't think they have air conditioning, but there were several fans going on this hot summer evening that kept the room temperature pleasant.
Service was efficient and friendly. Washrooms were clean with even a cannister of citrus air freshner available for use.
I will certainly be back to try some of the other menu selections that I didn't have a chance to experience.

The Knotty Pine

It's really 2 restaurants sharing 1 kitchen/ wait staff. Out front, a traditional cafe/coffee shop, out back, somewhat rowdy locals bar. Food was good, service was a bit slow, overall a decent call for a meal in republic.

We were quickly seated. The waiter brought us chips and salsa. The salsa was too spicy. The service was friendly, but could have been more attentive. The food was good. The restaurant was clean.

Great atmosphere, friendly people. Very good food value. Alice, the owner is the friendliest and most hospitable barkeep & server I have ever met. Go to Madonna's just to meet Alice!

Reviewed By Julian09 - Republic, Washington

Madonna's is a small kind of dingy bar in a small town. Staff is friendly, and the drinks are reasonably priced. If you're a wine-drinker, probably best to stick to soda or order hard liquor. They have a food menu that is pretty standard diner fare. On Thursday nights, there is a great DJ who hosts karaoke. It's apparently the main turn-out night for locals, since the activity-level genuinely picks up then. Another review mentioned smoking as a problem. Not any more since there's no smoking allowed indoors. Out on the back deck, yes. Inside no. There are a couple of pool tables and maybe a couple of other small games. Can't remember. This place is an option for lunch also. It's one of those 'local color' bars and can be entertaining for none other than that reason.

Steve-O's Restaurant and Drive-Thru

Reviewed By J9Koffel - REPUBLIC

Republic is home to a new dining option with great food, excellent customer service, and a cozy restaurant. Steve-O's is home to a delicious Greek Garden pizza with pesto sauce, which is my new favorite vegetarian option! Tastes wonderful hot and still terrific cold for leftovers! My only wish is that they had a family size option, since we rarely have leftovers from the large pizza. This is a family-run venture, so service is personable and immediate. At some point, I'll have to try something else on their menu, but for now, they're my "go-to" choice for satisfying veggie pizza. Their liquor application is still pending, so if having a beer with your meal is essential, place a to-go order and head to the Republic Brewing Company.

The restaurant is smaller, so large groups would do well to call ahead and reserve tables. Perfect for families, couples, singles, but don't expect an intimate date-night dinner; the tables are too close together for real privacy. Winter tip: sit close to the wood stove for comfort! I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Ferry County Co-op

Reviewed By Julian09 - Republic, Washington

Located in the middle of scenic small town Republic, this storefront offers a variety of fresh, packaged, & frozen food items, as well as a large selection of health and beauty items, books and gifts. They also feature artisan baked goods such as chocolate macaroons (deadly!), foccacia bread, and daily special lunch items. Membership in the Coop is encouraged, and with it you'll get a discount on purchased items, but anyone can shop here. You can also sit looking out from the large windows facing the street, and sip great coffee or tea while you watch life in a small town happening before your eyes. Sometimes watching paint dry may be more fascinating, but you get the idea. It's a nice place to sit and collect your thoughts while you munch on something delicious. Staff is sometimes a bit casual, but when you get their attention they're always friendly and helpful. Open M-Sat.
