Holy Cow

Reviewed By Joe M

I'm originally from the Washington DC area but I have family up here and I've come up during holidays and the summers. Each trip has included a stop at Holy Cow cause it's friendly, fast and absolutely delicious. The prices have always been reasonable, especially the standard cones and cups. You'll pay a little bit more for the "razzle", which is effectively like a thick, mixed shake but a million times better. Definitely get some flavor burst to spice up your soft serve. I always go with the cotton candy flavor but there are a lot more to choose from!

Go and you won't be disappointed! The only thing that can be a drawback would be a lack of good outdoor seating but you'll probably devour it fast before you can even sit.

More of a bistro than a steakhouse. Many creative and interesting menu options. Execution on food is very good if not quite perfect. Mostly locally sourced ingredients. Service is absolutely wonderful. Very comfortable, neighborhood atmosphere. Recommend.

For a friend's birthday, I ordered the two most popular cakes, a chocolate mousse and chocolate/raspberry. Both got rave reviews as being far more delicious than the usual overly-frosted and tasteless birthday cakes from other places. If you want larger cakes, order early since this is a small restaurant. The prices were similar to gourmet cakes elsewhere. .

Pizzeria Posto

Reviewed By Al-Sue-Maine - York, ME

We ate there while in town on business. Midweek in January it wasn't busy. The owner and his family operate the business, and they really take an interest in their customers. They are very nice, friendly people. More importantly, the food is great. They focus; they have a limited menu and obviously strive for quality. Many kinds of pizza, but clearly the focus is the pizza. The spinach salad was excellent, as was our pizza. Everything which is cooked is cooked in the brick oven, which they imported from Italy, and which is in the same room as the dining area. The atmosphere is "bistro", with banquette tables, etc. They have a nice selection of wine at reasonable prices. As you can see from the number of our reviews, we eat in a lot of restaurants, and this was some of the best pizza we've had. Definitely worth a visit.

I'm surprised the ranking here falls behind the local diner & sandwich shop. The chef/owner is a 7th generation pasta-maker: Buitoni. The venue is a small, casual storefront setting of simple wooden tables, a bar & open-air kitchen in the rear. The menu is somewhat limited, as the chef uses farm-to-table ingredients for dishes that change regularly. It includes: 8 antipasti, 3 primi & 4 secondi. Blackboard specials include: soup, an additional special for each course noted & dessert. We started w/ several different salads. Then, I had a penne arrabbiata w/tomatoes, cream & pancetta. Others had a branzino, pasta carbonara & goat cheese ravioli. All items are made to order & the wait was quite long, but prepared perfectly. We had their signature dessert-tiramisu-the best I've ever tasted! The menu is a la carte & was $45 pp (inc. wine.)

The Enchanted Cafe

Reviewed By Afoodie65 - Cold Spring, New York

After doing the walk at Poet's Walk we went into the village of Red Hood for lunch.
Having seen the reviews in Trip Advisor for The Enchanted Cafe, we decided to give it a try.
In an unusual decision my wife and I both ordered the chicken curry salad with 2 large decaf coffees. The salad of mixed greens arrived topped with a large mound of good, spicy curry chicken surrounded by tasty cut tomatoes. Really a beautiful presentation and a hit for our taste buds.
Unfortunately the coffee was only so so but if we are in the area again, we would not hesitate to stop.
The restaurant is small but tastily decorated.
