We stopped here one night going thru Pratt.... we were hungry for so good 'old comfort food and exactly what we got. The meatloaf was 1/2 order and still a lot of food.... the chicken was good and he needed a to go for left over chicken next day. The rolls were excellent.
We got there before the rush and the gals there were a hoot to talk too

This shop is run by a very nice family. They are very generous and sometimes they give you a free pastry. The coffee is fresh and hot. There is also plenty of seating. It is right on main street and very convenient.

Found this place by chance. Fantastic ambiance as described by others. Never been to a coffee house with Maxwell's equations on a blackboard! Double cappuccino -- a sample of one -- was good but not great. Cuban panini was very good and the soup was excellent. Some of the staff seemed inexperienced but they were certainly friendly. All in all, very good; I am suspicious that I'd give it a five "star" if I ever went back.

This town is out in the middle of the Kansas plains. We were visiting a friend twenty miles away and this was about the best restaurant in the area. I love microbrews and they serve a bunch of them. The food and service were decent for a small town: ;not outstamding but not bad either,

The exterior of this place is pretty ho-hum--significant weed and grass grown up at edge of parking lot. The inside is totally different. It is very clean, tables set with cloth tablecloths. Husband and I stopped in for lunch, a little after one. We were only customers. Waitress was prompt in getting our beverage order and bringing it. We ordered a 1/2 order (6) of plain breadsticks, along with side salads and mini pizzas. The salads were served, followed shortly by the breadsticks. Best breadsticks I have eaten in a restaurant--better even than Olive Garden in my opinion. The salad had several toppings on the fresh crisp lettuce. My husband ordered without onions and I skipped the pepperoni. One unusual thing to me was canned mushrooms instead of fresh on salad. Pizzas were served as we were finishing our salads. Husband ordered Bacon Cheeseburger and I had Veggie. If we hadn't stuffed ourselves on the breadsticks and generously sized salad, they would have been the perfect size. Pizza was perfect--nice crispy crust, good sauce, lots of toppings and cheese. As it was, we each took half our pizza to go. Menu also has sandwiches and appetizers, but we only ordered the bread sticks. Will make a point to stop in again, if it's mealtime as we travel through Pratt. Monday through Friday, they are closed between 2 and 4.

They have been in business for almost 2 years and also have other restaurants in surrounding towns like Greensburg, Anthony, St John,Cimmaron, and maybe a few others that we will try to list for you individually. Thanks.

We were doubtful, but happy surprised. The carnitas were tasty and tender. The rice and beans good, but on the bland side. Camarones nicely seasoned and grilled. The corn tortillas had an off flavor - old? Drink Specials Monday to Wednesday. Good friendly service. Real Mexican food in Kansas.

We just checked in at a nearby motel about 9:30 and found that two nearby Mexican restaurants were closing at 10:00. So we zipped over to the closest one and we were not disappointed. My wife ordered a taco and a cold bottle of beer and offered to help me eat a sumptuous hot platter of Playa Azul Fajitas with steak, shrimp, chicken, peppers, onion and more. I was glad I got the single order as we still brought leftovers back to the room. It was served with several hot, soft tortillas wrapped in foil and a plate of guacamole, rice, and beans. It was better than we expected, especially given that we arrived shortly before closing. We were treated with friendly smiles and prompt service. We don't usually travel through Pratt, but this is a place we would pay a repeat visit if the opportunity presented itself.

Rick's Restaurant

Reviewed By zamguy2013 - Orange Park

I had gone here several times for breakfast and always had a great meal. I tried it once in the evening and had terrible results.

There are signs up touting the BBQ, so I tried a rib dinner with the salad bar. The salad bar had one good item and that was the cottage cheese. The lettuce was wilted and even slimy- had to pass on getting greens.
The dinner arrived with the ribs, green peas, and a biscuit. The peas were shriveled up and tiny and tasted like they looked. The biscuit was covered in flour, hard as a rock on the outside. The ribs appeared to have been boiled or broiled, not smoked by any means. The ribs were not even cooked all the way and were so hard to pull apart, only a knife would do the trick. There was a lot of "rub" on the meat, so much so that it was a dry paste on the surface and the sauce tasted very bad. When the waitress came ( a very young girl) she asked how things were and I told her it was the worst meal I had in a long time. She was concerned about this and went to the kitchen to tell the cook. The cook in turn was questioning her in a loud voice about how anyone could question his food. I got up from the table and paid the bill. I even left a tip for the waitress for her attempt to correct the situation.
You are probably wondering why anyone would pay that bill? Well, I ordered it and I turned down the offer by the waitress for other food. Had I accepted something in return, you would not be seeing this review as i think it is wrong to make a statement about bad dinning experience after you receive a replacement.
Fact is, this restaurant lost about 20+ additional meals from me during my 2 month extended stay in Pratt, KS. There are no second chances for a place that has cooks like the one at Rick's.

We ate here on suggestion of the hotel clerk. The furnishings are rather basic; some tables are actually card tables. Food was food - tacos carne asada & al pastor were excellent, with cilantro provided. Had Mexican (real sugar) Coke to drink. Staff was courteous & attentive, and didn't get upset when I had to go back to the hotel to retrieve my wallet before paying.
