Roman Castle Italian Grill & Bar

On the outside it’s a fairly nondescript building, but get inside, you are warmly welcomed . The decor and menu are classic Greek restaurant stuff, but the quality is way beyond standard Greek restaurant fare. We just discovered this place, and can’t wait to return.....HUGE menu....EVERYTHING we had was excellent! The homemade bread was served warm AND with softened butter . This place knows how to do it right!!!!!

Stopped in on a Monday after biking. Kind of a "locals" joint. Food was good, good size serving. Bartender was "unique", quiet but efficient. In an old school, big building with bowling alley. Bowling alley had computerized scoring equipment (this surprised me). Overall good experience.

Passing through on business trip, I went to my old standby, TripAdvisor. Good move!

I ventured off the Interstate about five miles and eased up to this gem of Americana that snuggles up to a railroad track. I parked in the muddy lot and was treated to a train that barreled through on cue.

Entering, I was greeted with gazes by the assembled locals. I don't suppose they see many guys in a coat and tie coming through this door on a Tuesday evening. Especially one wearing a pink necktie.

I found a table in a corner. The waitress showed in an instant with a menu and a genuinely friendly greeting. Inspecting the menu I found that the food is mostly burgers and sandwiches. I ordered the Mushroom & Swiss burger, and the onion rings.

The Body Shop was nearly full. The bar was full of gents who look like they worked hard today and every day. They buzzed with jokes and laughter. The tables, all high tops, were filled with families, and elderly couples. By the time my food came, I to was thinking I looked pretty silly.

The burger was stallwart. The onion rings were even better! The tab was under $10!

One day I will return. When I do I'll make sure I'm wearing my jeans, work shirt and work boots. I may even grab a handful of the parking lot and make my attire to appear to fit in better.

Real people. Real food. Really worth the stop.

Good menu options and very friendly wait staff, fresh baked goods with typical truck stop type food items. Reliably good food, can't go wrong, good soup

Very good food in a tavern restaurant combination in New Lisbon. Good variety of items on the menu but a lot of people go there for their pizza. I am sure they make their own and have a good selection of topping including a very good BBQ chicken one.

The pizza was yummy with four cheeses in the topping. The music is loud. The clientele is mostly from Hustler and they have a great time together on a Friday night.

Squirrel E's is a great little pub on main street in Camp Douglas - they pour a great mixed drink, have wonderful beer on tap, nice Wisconsin bar atmosphere, but the real treat here is their Tuesday night dinner special - it is whatever the chef feels like making but it is always delicious. It could be kielbasa with cabbage, lasagna, or noodles with Alfredo sauce. And it's never just an entree - always comes with the fixings - salad, bread, etc. All for just $6! You just can't beat it. Delicious and a great price! Belly up to the bar for good drinks and great food. Who knew?

Dirty Turtle

Reviewed By willowtower - Madison, Wisconsin

I had the Piggyback Burger, smothered with cheese and smokey bacon with side of beer battered fries. Both were really good. The burger was cooked just right at Medium and lots of taste. The fries were crisp and hot. This was only thing good about our experience.

My husband ordered the Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Salad, but what was made was the Chicken Garden Salad, which had tomatoes, cheese and croutons. Due to allergies, couldn't eat the tomatoes and croutons. That was why he ordered the first salad as it didn't have those items in the description. But stilled charged $1 extra for wrong salad. I ate the croutons and tomatoes. Since he had a bit of dressing left, I swirled the tomatoes in it for some flavor. So nothing exciting about this salad and the chicken was dry.

Also ordered the Naked Wings, Jamaican Jerk style. Well, they came with BBQ sauce on top of it. Ordered the Jerk seasoning, so we wouldn't have to deal with tomato allergies and they came with BBQ sauce on top of the wings! Why?

Took 50 minutes to get the wings and then few more for the salad and burger. Took way longer than anticipated.

The bathrooms were filthy and stinky.

Oh, and two hours later, we were both running to the nearest restroom. Seems that ranch dressing wasn't up to code. The only items we shared were wings and ranch dressing, so we're blaming the ranch dressing.

The burger was really tasty, but rest of experience was a big letdown.

We needed a quick lunch stop on our way to the Dells, and figured Quiznos would be a safe bet. While the food was typical Quiznos fare, the environs left something to be desired. The Quiznos is actually tucked away in a corner of a gas station just off I-94 and could use some updating. From chipped tile floors, to persistent flies buzzing around the dirty high top tables, it just didn't feel clean or welcoming. The restrooms were in rough shape, as well. I wouldn't recommend staying to eat, but this place works if you need a to-go meal for your next road trip.
