If you have any doubts as to weather or not you should visit The Smoking Oak, get rid of them and go now. I'm from central Texas so I've had some of the best BBQ around, Blacks, Snows, etc and can say that this was some of the best I've ever had. Not really cheap eats but the food is worth every penny and they do have deals. The sauce is great, brisket amazing and the sausage was meaty without any grease, nothing low grade here. The creamed corn, beans and potato salad were all equally amazing. Service was friendly and excellent, someone even stopped by to ask how the food was and later to refill my tea. Folks, this is one of the best restaurants in Texas, you owe it to yourself to try it .

We were on vacation in December in Mercedes Texas.... 85 degrees in the Rio Grand Valley! Yep Dec. We live in Fort Wayne Indiana..... So you know we were ecstatic with the weather... We had a couple of ice creams...DELICIOUS as we expected! I recommend DQ in Mercedes Texas any time of the year!

This place has always rocked.
THE BEST PIZZAS IN THE VALLEY.
Order the flat bread sampler, with shrimp biago, artichoke and BBQ sauce. Order 1 or 2 extra breads.
The lots of meat is always ordered with feta and portabella mushrooms, Heaven.
Staff have always been very friendly.
Sit in the bar and socialize.
You must eat here and often.
FYI, most Thursday's they have beer samplings events.

I have ate a lot of pizza in my life, and I have loved most everyone. Formazio Pizza tops all of the rest. While, the toppings, the baking, the people, the enthusiasm, the cleanliness, the promise of when it will be ready, the owner and his staff, top all of the rest. I never ate another pizza in the Rio Grande Valley then this one, and I would get mad at myself if I missed a week without having one.
At $8.00 for the best large deluxe pizza you ever ate, this is the best bargain and best pizza in the RGV. We love Mercedes.
We are now back in Ontario, and baking our own frozen pizza, longing for our Formazio.

Nana’s brings the atmosphere of tacos and Mariachi’s to Weslaco, Texas. Instead of crossing the border to Nuevo Progreso, we enjoyed the food and entertainment on the patio. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but the music brings the place to life on the weekends. Popular orders are the lonches, breaded tacos or the corn tortilla bistek tacos. Affordable for the whole family.

My husband and I went to South Texas for vacation in Dec.... Decide to try a different place to eat in Mercedes... A small restaurant north of Mercedes.
Had a pull pork sandwich and it was fantastic! Try the brisket.... Even better.
Reasonable prices.....
I recommend it!
Didn't take a picture this time around but sure will when we visit again in a few months!

They make a big deal about freshness and making each burger to order in their TV advertising. Nothing could be further from the truth! On the second visit I asked for my burger to be made fresh from the grill. The burger came in about one minute and again it was cold. I actually wrote the company but got no response. I have friends that are smarter than myself as they never went back a second time!!

If you know what Chili's food is... Then that is what you'll get.
Allthough I remember that salads were huge, this time lettuce must be very expensive, cause they certainly cutted the amount served.
Lots of new dishes (at least for me, different menu) same quality!.
Service: we had great service at the beggining, but at the end, they just don't pick up the empty dishes, and they bring coffee and dessert to a messy table. Disgusting.
