Went with friends for dinner at their suggestion for Bohemian foods. Food was hearty and tasty. They have a great selection of bohemian foods including goulash, dumplings, sausage, and pickled beef.
They offer daily specials.
There also are some seafood items on the menu.
You must same room for dessert including kolacky and cheesecake.
One point is that they don't take credit cards.

Freddy's Pizzeria

Reviewed By Leslie M - Fish Creek, Wisconsin

Freddy's is some of the best food I've ever eaten!!! My husband and I have enjoyed this place for over 15 years since we saw it on Check, Please. Now we live in South Carolina, but will always find a way to go when we're in the area. The lemon chicken is so good that I could drink the juice. They give you free bread to sop up all that deliciousness. The seafood salad is the freshest and has most tender calamari and octopus I've ever had. They weigh the seafood first and then add the olive oil and lemons. I also highly recommend the risotto, rapini, and Italian sausage which comes a jus with peppers and potatoes. All the salads are incredibly flavorful and fresh. There are also a variety of pasta dishes, meat entrees, sandwiches, and pizza. It doesn't matter how full you are, get the gelato! I've never found any better! My favorite is the Don Vito which has a cherry base with brandied whole bing cherries and chocolate. The Oreo, dulce de leche, and fruits of the forest are also delicious!! I'm sure they all are! Get a taste of any before you buy. So hard to decide. The place is very small and the food line is at the back of a tiny and charming Italian grocery store. They will heat the food up on paper plates and you can eat in an adjacent room (outside too when the weather is nice). Or you can get it all to go. This place never disappoints! Expect long lines that move rather quickly. Holiday times are especially crowded. They do not take credit or debit cards. It's not especially cheap, but such a great value for the quality and freshness of the food. The staff who waits on you is very pleasant, many speak Spanish, and have been there for many years. Enjoy!

Irish Times

Reviewed By Annette F - Brookfield, Illinois

As Brookfield residents, we visit Irish Times fairly regularly, and often bring friends. This is a real, independently-owned Irish pub, not a chain restaurant, and so has an authentic feel. While the burgers are always good, and a bargain on Mondays ($5), I recommend the more Irish fare. The corned beef and cabbage dinner and the Irish breakfast are my favorites. The shepherd's pie is also very good, although even the best versions of that tend to be a bit bland. Add a slice of Irish bacon to the tomato and grilled cheese! The fish and chips (AYCE on Fridays) are excellent, quality flaky cod in a light tempura-style batter. A reasonably wide selection of beers and ciders on tap for a relatively small place. They used to make wonderful bread pudding with whiskey sauce, but the last time we ordered it, it came with caramel/chocolate sauce, which was fine, but not as good as the traditional. It can get crowded on Friday and Saturday evenings (or during special events/music performances - even rather crazy around St. Pat's day!), and the kitchen sometimes gets busy, so the wait for your meal to arrive can increase, but the service is always friendly and attentive. Try going early Sunday afternoon, especially in winter, when it's less crowded and you might get a table near the fireplace. The outdoor patio in back is great in warmer weather, entirely fenced-in and private. Over the years they've given in and added some big-screen TVs, but the volume is usually kept down, so minimally distracting. We've been coming here since smoking was allowed and many of the servers still had the Irish brogue. The BN Metra train station is just outside their door, so come visit Brookfield!

Vesecky's Bakery

It looks like a store from my childhood in Eastern Europe. The stuff they sell looks authentic, but the rohliki are very different from what they should be. Kolachky with poppy seeds are nice, but the jam things are way too sweet for any non-American. I mean, I do like sweet things, just American things are way to sweet for me.
Overall, even if this place is not exactly the same as it would be in Prague, but it brings good memories of Eastern Europe:)

My girl friend and I wanted to try restaurants in LaGrange and saw this one on main street. Service is fast and friendly. My friend had the Baked Blueberry French Toast. The bread is dense and was not what she expected. She needed the compote addition because it was so dense and dry. Not a good choice. I had the Aussie Chicken sandwich. The chicken was not seasoned and I had to use the salt shaker which I never do. It was average sandwich. Portion size was good. We both decided we probably wont return.

We had a wonderful dinner here on a Tuesday night. We started out with crostini - a make your own toasted bread with goat cheese, chutney and a large roasted garlic (not recommended if you are on your first date) We loved it!
With our well informed waiter, we chose chicken with mango sauce and duck/pancetta meat balls in a light broth sauce and pasta. Couldn't have been better choices and enough to bring home. They had a wine special that night for a very fair price.
Great service. Fair prices. We will definitely come back!

I would actually give 3 1/2 stars...service was very, very slow. We were sitting there for about 15 minutes before anyone came over to ask us about drinks. I ordered a decaf coffee, which was lukewarm. My friends ordered mimosas, which they said were good. I ordered the healthy wrap, which had egg whites, mushrooms, onions, a little cheese, and avocado, but the charred tomato salsa was missing. Another friend ordered the same thing, but asked for no mushrooms...when served, there were mushrooms, so they made her a new one pretty quickly. The other two people ordered the frittata and the bacon omelet. The bacon omelet was huge, filled with cheese, and delicious. All were served with roasted potatoes, which were pretty good.

Portillo's Hot Dogs

Home to America's favorite Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef, burgers, salads, and chocolate cake.

I love Portillo's! My favorite is Italian Sausage on a hotdog bun with mustard, onions, and sport peppers. I love everything they have though. Their fries are always delicious. I can't remember one time not getting fresh fries. But again, consistency is the key. I can always expect my food to taste good and to be freshly made. Sometimes the wait is annoying, but usually not.
