Stopped at this DQ during a road trip. Our timing was right after church, and the DQ and its parking lot were both crowded. There was a longer-than-expected line of customers ordering, but the ordering process and the food delivery was impressive. They really do a good job moving customers and their food through the process. Food was typical DQ quality.

As hungry travelers looking for a nonfast food family type restaurant in Lamar, we had just about given up, then spotted this downtown. I had a cheeseburger basket and my husband had the chicken fried steak burger special. Both were delicious and we wished we had tried the cod when it appeared on another customer’s plate. Fish and chips and British decor on the walls nicely set the tone. Prices were modest.

El Charro Mexican

Reviewed By Capraadmirer - Kansas City

(It's now called "El Charco", by the way) Our group of four stopped to find a place for dinner, and this was one of only a few choices, but reviews sounded good, so we tried it. I wouldn't normally bother with a review, but we were really impressed with the quality of the food. There were grilled vegetables included in several of our dishes, and I'm not the kind of guy to make noise about vegetables, but these were as good-tasting (while surely very healthy) as any vegetables I've eaten in a very long time. This was high-quality chef-type work. We were all pretty astonished. The rest of the food was really good, too, and definitely with a real step-up from an ordinary decent Mexican restaurant. (We liked their preference for whole beans rather than refried beans, too.) The people and the service were really nice, warm, prompt. And they made their own salsa (that wasn't on the meal I ordered) that was so good that one of our group asked to buy some from them to take home. And they told her they'd sell her a bottle, but instead they just gave it to her. The interior of the restaurant is modest, but perfectly decent. We'll make a definite point of stopping there in the future when we pass that way.

My several ratings for this place would be "excellent" but they don't aim to be a hot-shot high-dollar place, and their prices are quite modest, so "very good" is really "outstanding" for a restaurant in this price range and appearance.

I'm going to be fair here, and say that I've eaten at this KFC/Taco Bell combination before, and gotten along OK - but this time was really unacceptable. My order was simple: I wanted 2 bean burritos, with no cheese. So the counter man told me that what I really wanted was a "Frisco Burrito" . . . . beans and salsa in a tortilla. So when I got it (and the kitchen was really slow), I opened it up to verify that there was no cheese (allergy), and it was basically a runny, watery soup, in which I could basically count the beans. What I had intended was a simple bean burrito -- frijoles -- refried beans. This stuff was basically inedible, which is what I did . . . . I inet it, and we left.

Of course, this is a simple fast-food restaurant. We don't have to expect greatness. But we should still expect that they care about the quality of they products they put out.

We stop here when going from Blue Springs MO to Fayetteville AK and it is always clean and quick. But this was the Sat before the 4Th of July. When we arrived the DQ was packed and there was a 12 people line. Not sure how long it would take we almost left, but we are glad we did not. there were two order stations and the lines flew. After we placed our order and was getting our drinks our number was called. They had two runners taking out food, Our sundaes arrived first but that was fine. Then the food came all this in less the 10 minutes. This process continued while we were there lines would form but the food was fast out and faster then most DQ's with far less crowds.

As most Asian buffets are very similar, all one actually can go by is consistency. This restaurant is consistent and the food is very good. I am a general chicken fan and theirs is excellent. Crab Rangoon are excellent, great egg rolls and consistent tasty traditional buffet items.
