Lonzerotti's Italia Restaurant

Lonzerottis is a fine dining restaurant located in a restored train station with working tracks. The building's architecture follows the prairie school design with wide roof overhangs and hip roofs. Hardwood trim throughout the restaurant is original. Lonzerottis serves classic Italian cuisine along with new American dishes. While we are a fine dining restaurant, casual dress is welcome.

This is a beautiful restaurant located in an old train station. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. The decoration of the place is a little Spartan but it's definitely nice and large. The food was excellent and we had the buffalo meat balls as well as their Lasagna daily special which was made with pork and a spicy sauce. All the food was excellent the attention was superb, and definitely the best restaurant in Jacksonville Illinois to eat.

This is a great little drive-thru or eat outside restaurant. It is just 2 blocks north of the main street square right on North Main St. This restaurant is locally owned and has several local favorites. One of the burgers is an off-shott of the original Maid-Rite and is very, very good. It is finely ground hamburger with a broth served on a fresh bun. Yummy!!! They have great soups and great ice cream served with a friendly, local flavor. It is a great place to visit in the summer when you can sit outside and enjoy.

Made onsite, these delicacies you must try! Serving breakfast and lunch this is a place you'll return to over and over again. Extremely friendly employees and the owner, Saif, is anxious to satisfy your baked goods desires! After a couple of donuts and hot cup of coffee for breakfast, you'll be tempted to return for lunch with their fresh made salads and sandwiches which includes a great chicken salad sandwich. The donuts and cinnamon rolls are sooooo good!!!

Ordered for delivery. Wanted something local since you can get the national chains anywhere. We were not disappointed. The pizza was delicious, relatively inexpensive and quick. If you order an XL you get a free 10" single topping. I wouldn't call the pan pizza a deep dish or Chicago style but the crust was so tasty. Good pizza, lots of toppings. Wouldn't hesitate to order if we are in town again.

Visited Jacksonville on business with colleagues and found this place right on the town square. Nice old-style decor in the barroom. Good selection of beers, and the bartender was pleasant to talk to. If I ever get back to Jacksonville I'll be stopping in again.

Fujiyama, Japanese Steak House

Reviewed By Jim V - Longview, Texas

Located in a strip mall, this place is nothing more than the standard Japanese restaurant where the chef "entertains" while preparing your meal in front of you on a large flat grill. The "shtick" is the same here as any other of the Benihana type places. The selection is pretty much the same as well - beef, chicken or seafood. The pre-dinner Miso soup was bland and the salad ordinary. It was relatively new so maybe it'll get better, but I've been more entertained and had a better meal at other Japanese hibachi-style restaurants.

I have eaten here, and will continue to eat here in the future. The burgers, fries, shakes, and appetizers are awesome. If you order a large shake, you literally get enough for 4 people (32 oz.)!! Their cheese fries are awesome, chicken sandwiches and burgers are great and they are pretty fast for service.

Let me start with the positive - great atmosphere, good service, wonderful martini!
And now for the rest of the story......was visiting Jacksonville for the first time and Mugsy's was recommended by my hotel. I took one of my local co-workers to dinner and we were both very disappointed. We both ordered the special of the night, a new york strip steak, with a side of vegetables. I ordered my steak medium well. The first time the steak came out, it was actually cold on the outside and cooked to medium rare inside. I sent it back and the second one arrived. At least it was warm on the outside, but still very undercooked. Again, I told our waitress about the issue, but, since my dining companion was almost finished eating, I did not send it back for the third time, but ate around the edges where it was better cooked. Not a great experience! In hind site, I should have ordered the lobster risotto, which sounded interesting. The waitress proceeded to ask if I needed a box - of course not, I'm staying in a hotel, which she already know. When the check arrives, she brings me the full bill with a $10. gift card. Really? I am on business and have no idea when/if I will be back to Jacksonville any time soon. All in all, I don't think I would go back. I was looking forward to a great meal with a friend and was extremely disappointed!

This Mexican restaurant has a beautiful decor that would suggest high prices, but rather it is a very good value, and the portions are outsized. I order a separate chili relent to go with my enchiladas, and the Chili Relleno is so large, it nearly fills a medium plate? (GRIN). There is obviously someone with real authentic cooking skills in the kitchen, as they have many traditional dishes you do not usually find in a Mexican Restaurant so far north of the borer? (GRIN). I have been there twice while I an on an extended biz trip here, and both times the food was excellent and served very hot on a heated plate.
