Ivanhoe's Drive In

Reviewed By bkbkg - Indiana

We drove about 90 minutes to try Ivanhoe's on the recommendation of family members who have also made the drive. It was definitely worth it! Probably good they aren't closer, so we aren't tempted to eat there too often. We were there at lunch time and had to wait in line to order our food. We waited about 30 mins for food. It was very crowded, so we also had to wait for a table. The food was very good. We finished the meal with sundaes. They were also very good. There are 100 choices of sundaes and 100 choices of shakes and also many ice cream flavors for a cup or a cone. We will definitely return!

Been there done that yet so disappointed I can't rewind it back, service was slow by a waitress that seemed undertrained & quite frankly a bit rude, can't really remember her name but she was the only blonde waitress with a ponytail on that Saturday evening, observed her treating other employees quite disrespectful as well thinking she could have possibly been head waitress on staff that evening, as for the food i got the prime rib dinner as I had heard it was to be there best in town & regretted that decision my 1st bite in, it was over powered with auju flavor rather than that true steak house flavor I expected & I ordered it Medium but got Well which is nearly like chewing on a belt to me, I personally will not return & wouldn't recommend it to my family or friends, and as I seen through other reviews no I will not change my review and no I don't not want free food as it was bad enough the 1st time around, no need for a response at all because my opinion is exactly that mine & it won't change.

It's not listed yet, but they have a great place and I have pictures and comments if I can figure out how to do a new restaurant.

I stopped for the fish and chips and this dish certainly didn't wow me to make me want to come back. Pretty standard fried fish and french fries that were overdone. I had the full sized portion and a salad. Total was $17. Not worth the money for this well below average to poor meal.

Service was friendly and informative about the menu, but it was a longer than necessary wait for my server to arrive to the table. I waited around 10 minutes or so.

There are some other items on the menu that I wouldn't mind trying, but the over cooked and overpriced fish and chips may steer me away to McDonald's the next time I'm in the area.

At this exit, Payne's is the better choice. But this Starbucks is quicker and closer to the highway. They do everything a Starbucks should.

Introduced my Indiana cousin to this first-class place, in her territory. And she agreed: well worth the drive over from Howard County. Only my wife got adventurous with the menu: the pasta special, linguine with shrimp and veggies---which she rated as very good. The rest of...MoreThank you for coming!

I have eaten here several times by myself and once with a group of eleven people. Breakfasts are good. I recommend the "Breakfast Bowl" or one of the omelets. They also serve lunch and dinner. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is a typical small town local place. All on one floor with no stairs, quite handicapped accessible. "One seater" unisex bathroom which is roomy and clean. It is located on one of Jonesboro's brick streets and still looks a bit like the post office which once occupied the building.

This was the first visit and stop for lunch. I was seated immediately in a very nicely decorated dining room which was larger than expected for a storefront restaurant. My server was there promptly and provided good service , but did have a little difficulty understanding her. Ordered the lunch combo with a choice of several menu items. Ordered the beef taco, the chicken burrito, and the beef enchilada with a Coke. The lunch combo was $5.99 and my total check was $9.07 with beverage and tax. Was served chips and salsa which were very good but thought the salsa was a bit thin. The lunch was a little more spicy than expected which cause more heartburn than I would have liked. Have learned to always ask for the milder items on the menu, but this was more than anticipated.

I normally eat at Red Lobster every Friday but passing through Indiana stopped here and what a disappointment. Waitress took 10 minutes to take our order, we asked for our coleslaw before our meal.
Coleslaw came out with meals and I got part of my order, said the rest would be right out. Had to finally ask another waiter to check for me. Finally our waitress came back and asked if all was ok. Her response was well he said he would bring your food out. Finally got rest of food 15 minutes after first half.
Food was good though.
Yep, definitely back to Red Lobster.
Better price, food and service.

This was a first visit and stopped for lunch. The menu had Chinese, Sushi and Thai foods. Ordered the lunch special of chicken with vegetables which came with egg drop soup and fried rice for $5.99. Ordered hot tea to drink for $1.50. The food was served hot and was very good. For the price the portions were large. There was just one server and he did a very efficient job. This restaurant is small and it is not a buffet. They do have carry out as well as dining in. The restaurant was clean with traditional Oriental decorations. This restaurant is in a storefront in a shopping plaza off of Main Street on the east edge of Gas City. You must turn into the plaza in order to see the restaurant. There is plenty of parking.

Have been going there since childhood. A great place to lunch with the ladies. They serve a blue lemonade that is cold and refreshing. Not a large menu, but soup and sandwiches just right for a ladies appetite. Furnishings getting a little worn. But it is on National Historic register enjoy.
