Hammontree's Grilled Cheese

Fayetteville's original grilled cheese joint. Hammontree's specializes in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches made with high quality ingredients; sourced locally when possible. We also have made from scratch soups daily, salads, and specialty sausages.

Hammontree's is a truly original and fun bar. It's not just your mom's grilled cheeze, but rather a huge assortment of soups and hearty sandwiches. I ordered the muffaletta and a cup of tomato soup, which were both out of this world. They also have a great tap list. This is one of Fayetteville's must-stop restaurants.

Hugo's is an excellent bar. The drinks are cheap and the food is amazing. I really love their burgers and sandwiches, which are easily among Fayetteville's best. The underground, speakeasy aesthetic is a ton of fun. You have to visit Hugo's while you're in Fayetteville.

We went here because the Mediterranean place next door had inadequate table seating for us. A very good find...a complete range of hot and cold dishes and the chef actually adjusts the spicing as you request.... not automatically hot, hotter, much hotter if you don’t want too many chilies. Friendly and knowledgeable service.

Have been here many times and maybe this was an off day. Hamburger was over cooked and dry and my grandsons food was similarity just mediocre. Service was great and prompt but I was there for the food. Much better in the past so I will give them another shot the next time I’m in Hog country.

We had a delicious quiche (bacon, Swiss, and grilled onions) and a breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, and cheese) on a squared-off croissant. The food was very good, and the service was quick and friendly. They had some very nice looking pastries in the case, including chocolate-covered cream puffs. Sadly, no time to come back.

We had never eaten here before. It was outstanding. The fluffy taco shells...the grilled chicken...beef...cheese dip...fruit punch...guacamole. We were shocked at how good it was. It tasted like good quality food instead of the cheap junk you get at fast food places. The salsa was a bit spicy for me but still good.

Arsaga's At The Depot

Arsaga's at the Depot is housed in an old train freight building on the Frisco Trail near the corner of West and Dickson Streets. Built in the early 1900's, the building had fallen into disrepair and was in need of a facelift. After a year of demolition and remodeling, it is claiming its place as one of Fayetteville's historic landmarks once again. This unique spot offers our locally roasted coffee beans as well as espresso based drinks, and pastries, which can be ordered from the coffee bar. It also functions as a full table service restaurant serving innovative crepes, salads, and soups inspired by local food availability, as well as a thoughtful selection of wines and beers. We feature brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings with specials based on seasonal ingredients, and mimosas flavored with house made simple syrups. From the original, uniquely designed wood floors to the spacious outdoor decks, the Depot offers a comfortable, lived-in atmosphere while maintaining its singular character. Its central location makes it a convenient gathering place for Fayetteville's diverse community and its visitors. It offers special menu options on request for group meetings, music and art events, and small parties and receptions. Like us on Facebook for updates on specials and events.

Arsega's is a local coffee shop chain which has successfully competed with the national chains for decades. They procure and process their own coffee and have delish foods that are unique at each of their locations.

The Depot is the old Fayetteville passenger train station on Dickson St. The biking/jogging trail goes down the railroad tracks (which are still in use) so you can sit outside on the back porch and watch bikes, runners and trains while you drink your coffee and eat your meals.

I love their breakfasts of tasty, locally sourced foods presented creatively. A mimisoa, in addition to your coffee, will make it even better. I prefer the more traditional things like fried potatoes, toast and eggs but the trendy and fruity breakfasts are also worth trying.

A couple of bits of advice. First, the free parking is to the right side (at the end of the building). The lot in front of the main entrance is owned by a mercenary parking company and you have to pay. Second, they are very popular for weekend brunches so if you don't get there early, expect to wait for a table.

Four of us brunched here over the Christmas holiday and we had a wonderful time! We heard that there could be a wait so we arrived a bit on the early side and got a table instantly, though a line formed later.
The décor is charming and the food was excellent. We each had something different and we all liked what we had. Quantities are generous and prices are not unreasonable. The service was good, coffee wonderful, wait staff friendly and efficient. And the mimosas were excellent...we had a bunch of them for sure.
I gladly give them a strong recommendation and look forward to my next visit.

Four of us dined at Bordino’s last evening and had an excellent dinner. We had eaten here several times before as my Mom lives here, but this was by far our best experience and the food was excellent.

I began with the wild boar sausage appetizer over polenta—best thing I ate. Perfect. Our entrees were seafood linguine, vegetable risotto (shrimp added), tortellini, and blackened pork. The only one I would not recommend was the tortellini—all the others were outstanding. My pork dish came with sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts which were cooked perfectly. We finished the meal off sharing a pecan praline gelato.

Bordinos has a very good wine and cocktails list. With four glasses of wine and tip our meal was $233. Valet parking is available and should be used. Ask to sit in the main dining room. Our server Mike was excellent. I look forward to our next visit.
