We stopped by Paragua based on the recommendation of a local merchant in Chimayo. Boy were we disappointed. Admittedly, we arrived a little later than the usual lunch hour, maybe 1:30 or so, but my chicken enchilada was served cold. Texture was not right and most important of all, it was tasteless. Sure, I appreciate the quick service and low price---but food quality matters. I wouldn't recommend eating here.

Just happened upon this bakery for coffee and was amazed by the selection of donuts and cinnamon rolls. We shared an apple fritter and a baked cinnamon roll and they were some of the best we have ever had!! The owner-Dino was friendly and fortunately had time to chat and suggest some things we may want to stop and see. This is going to be stop whenever we're in the area! Thanks Dino!!

I am happy Escape Coffee House is finally open. I've missed having a nice coffee shop nearby. I stopped in yesterday and found the service to be friendly and the place clean and welcoming. There is ample off-street parking. The entrance is ramped and, once inside, the restaurant is almost entirely on one level. There is one side area with a few high tables which you reach by walking down two small steps, but if you cannot handle stairs, it's not a problem. There is a counter with comfy stools where you can sit, as well as a good number of tables and a couch with a low table. There are plenty of magazines available to read. I took advantage of their free Wi-Fi while awaiting my Chocolate Abuelita and Chocolate/Orange cupcake (both were yummy!). Besides what I ordered, there is a large selection of hot beverages, desserts, and light food. This is a nice place to hang out with friends, or to just chill by yourself. Or, you can order to take out. Please visit so it remains open.

By far THE best New Mexican food in a 30 mile radius. We have lived in the area for over 25 years and if you want to eat REAL New Mexican food, this is the place. Real authentic food, large portion sizes, great service. They also have a good beer selection, including several NM craft beers from SF Brewery.

My friend and I were passing through Espanola on our way to Albuquerque. I wanted a Blizzard, so we stopped here around lunch time.
I got a Reese's peanut butter cup Blizzard, which is my favorite. It was served upside down, thick and cold. It was delicious, as I expected.
My friend got lunch, a meal combo with a sandwich on ciabatta he'd seen advertised on TV. He seemed to enjoy his meal very much.
The woman who took our order was friendly, and the women's restroom was clean.
I'm sure we'll stop here again on another road trip.

value for money...well not really...a small pint of salsa was 5 bucks... tamales were 2.50 each but they were good..no complaints on that front by way of taste or quality... biscochitos..3 for 2.50...oh well...would i go back? yes... but get selective tamales and be done...

Went in for ice cream, but was surprised with the friendly guy that worked there. Didn't get his name but he made the trip a little more enjoyable. Great job!!

This is my absolute favorite place in Espanola. It doesn't seem like much, but once you bite into WHATEVER you order----yum! The aguas frescas are divine. The sandwiches are so good. I mean, really, really good! It is worth driving to Espanola just to eat here!

JoAnn's has been dishing out quality Southwestern cooking from the same location on Espanola's main drag for over a generation. It's a funky but homey place, with a menu of regional specialties and a first-name-basis clientele. Things may appear a trifle...relaxed on entrance, but the long-term waitresses are quick to the tables and snappy with delivery. A poster near the register proclaims "Red or Green?" (as in chile) as the official New Mexico question, and the Chile here is just right side of fiery. For those en route to Taos or returning to Santa Fe on a day trip, JoAnn's makes an ideal pit stop.
