We visit Braum's at least every other week. Not always to dine, sometimes just to pick up some fresh dairy products and general grocery items. The same familiar faces are always there and greet everyone with a smile. If you are there for the ice cream to dine in, go for the double dip! They have cartons of "normal" ice creams to take home or you can have a packed carton of one of the specialty or seasonal ice creams from the serving counter. If you are there for breakfast, give the biscuits and gravy a try. No other fast food biscuits and gravy come near to this level of at home taste and quality. If you are there for a burger, they are all good but I usually go for the 1/6th pound combo. If you are pretty hungry, the 1/3rd pound burger can't be beat.

They offer fresh produce, bread, eggs, milk, yogurt, (ice cream, of course!), fruit, vegetables, and cuts of meat, as well as lunch meats and cheeses. You can also pick up condiments, lasagna, pizza, and a bag of ice for the road.

It's our mini grocery store when we don't absolutely have to go to the real "store".

Wildflower Cafe

A charming, locally owned, cafe centrally located in Ennis' downtown historic district. The building is shared with retail shop Interior Ideas (same owner, 25 years), and art gallery. Atmosphere is cozy and inviting, a regional destination.

The variety of sandwiches is great! They have other things like soups and salads, but we had sandwiches. They were very good. In addition, they have a gift shop, so you can shop while you eat!Thank you for your review! We are so happy that you chose to have lunch at the Wildflower café! Hope to see you again soon!

Starbucks

Reviewed By Yippie-Yi-O - Ennis, Texas

The new location has been up and running awhile now. For travelers looking for drive-thru, yes, this location has it. It is faster to order at drive-thru, even if there is a line of cars, then to go inside and order. The orders for the drive-thru appear to get processed first, in order to keep the traffic flowing. I have gone inside and ordered only to see the last car in the line, when I entered the store, drive out with a drink, when I felt that I ordered first, as the car in line was not near the speaker when I went inside, meanwhile I waited another 6 minutes. The inside of this Starbucks is not as warm and inviting as the last and my once favorite haunt in Ennis, is no more. Oftentimes there is no music and the place feels cold and sterile. My friends agree and we do not wish to linger and chat as we once did. Best bet, order with your app and pick up at the counter, or use the drive-thru.

That's right, this spot is tucked away in the service station by the highway. They have day old Ko-Lachees that are bargain priced. but unless you are starved, they are really quite average.

We were told from friends that this place was good. They discovered this hidden gem while biking the back roads of Ellis county. It is a country general store - not a fancy restaurant and that is is part of their charm. Don't let the store name fool you. The sushi here is very good and the Kimchi fried rice is sooo yummy. You can't beat the price. And finally . . YES, it's in Bristol, Texas, east of Ennis on FM 660.

Cotton Patch Cafe

Reviewed By JamesD20 - Houston, Texas

We saw the Cotton Patch Cafe on our drive south on I-45 and stopped for a stretch and a late lunch. The Cotton Patch franchise is noted for their comfort food and pleasant service. The Cafe on the north feeder road of I-45 looks to be a fairly new establishment.
The decor was comfortable and bright. The staff were personable and welcoming.

We had a couple salads; the cob salad and a fiesta salad both of which were large portions and very fresh. The chicken in both salads had been individually prepared and was very good... (not the cold stuff from the refrigerator).

We'll stop here again.

You can return to I-45 south by exiting the rear of the Cotton Patch parking lot to Sonoma Trail southbound then west on Ennis Ave.

Firehouse Grill

Reviewed By Bhoff4273 - Lewisville, Texas

We spent the day on the Ennis Blue Bonnet Trail and had decided to stay the night in Ennis. A couple years ago we had attended the Ennis Bluebonnet Festival and had tried to have lunch at the Firehouse Grill. No success as the wait too long. This trip my wife and I decided to have dinner at the Firehouse. Large varied menu and the food was great and service caring. For me and best of all, the fried zucchini. First time I'd ever had that was in Hue, Vietnam and loved it. That at the Firehouse was as I remembered what I'd had in Vietnam. Not a lot more I care to remember about Vietnam although the countryside there is beautiful. Anyway, if in Ennis at lunch or dinner time give the Firehouse a try. Lord willing, I'll be back.
