Box Hill Crabcakes is a family owned and operated restaurant in Abingdon, Maryland, and opened its doors in August 1984 with The Kanaras Brothers, Tom and Chris as the owners, along with their father George and mother Demetra who supported their sons as young entrepreneurs. With a strong commitment to customer service and satisfaction in a family-friendly environment, what once was a small eat-in, carry-out restaurant has expanded to a popular regional eatery with long-time, faithful customers who come in weekly to enjoy the "World Famous Crab Cakes," incredible Italian dishes, authentic Greek specialties and delicious hot and cold subs to name just a few of the menu favorites. Voted the area's best restaurant for crabcakes, give us a try and you too will be a satisfied customer who will be back for more! The correct name of this establishment is Box Hill Pizzeria, not Box Hill Crab Cakes, though I understand the confusion as they have a website with that name that caters to on-line crab cake orders. Why, because you will find no better crab cakes in Maryland - period!

First, Box Hill's crab cakes are all jumbo lump, Maryland Blue Crab meat and weigh in at 8 oz. each! There is very little filler - just enough to hold all of that delicious crab meat together. Box Hill ships their famous crab cakes all over the country and they make an excellent gift for anyone who enjoys crab cakes.

While the crab cakes may be the main attraction that keeps folks coming back year after year, Box Hill offers an excellent array of Italian, Greek and sub sandwiches too. There is adequate seating table service and a large parking lot.

Dunkin' Donuts

A break from the horrible traffic on Rt 95, we got gas nearby and ended up here for some drinks and donuts to get us farther down the road. They did not have the supplies to make coffee coolatas but suggested vanilla bean coolatas, so we got 2 of those. Picked up 1/2 dozen donuts- many of which were probably unique to the area for Ravens, America, etc. I would not expect to be back to this one but it was fine.

Giovanni's Restaurant

Reviewed By sunnygirl110 - Maryland, USA

My hubby and I have lived in Harford County all our lives. We hadn’t been to Giovanni’s since our dating days. Needless to say, it’s been a while since this time we visited with our 21 year old.

The setting is so classic Italian. They have the courtesy coat check at the front which is such a nice touch.

And the food! The calamari was tender and tasty. The scallops mornay was wonderful. And I could eat a bottle of the homemade house dressing. My son really enjoyed the cheese ravioli and meat sauce, while my husband went classic spaghetti. All delicious with generous servings; none of us could finish it all.

Service was good; a little spotty and she missed telling us the specials, which we had to overhear from the other tables. But otherwise she was pleasant.

Our son was happy we’d let him in on our secret Italian spot from years ago. We can’t wait to go back!!!!

.This was our second visit in our four day stay in the area. Decided to order take out and eat in our hotel room . Got s large cheese and a specialty salad with chick peas and feta. Plus a baklava, homemade by yaya( grandmother). Pizza was great with plenty of cheese and good sauce. Loved the salad. Nice combination of ingredients with good dressing. The baklava was very delicious gooey and scrumptious! Great place.
Family run business. Very friendly staff.

Chick-fil-A

We had a horrible experience at this location today. First my son had a piece of blue plastic on the outside of his nugget. I can send you the pictures.
Then I got home and my grilled chicken salad had MOLD on it and the fruit was clearly old.
I have never minded paying the prices at chick fil a due to the high quality. This visit however drastically changed my mind. I honestly can't believe no one noticed the blue plastic on a nugget and mold on a salad. I am scared to eat the salad. I have no idea how old it is.
I thought salads were prepped daily.
I have pictures as well.
I am very disappointed.

Fortunato Brothers Pizza

Reviewed By jersey721 - New Jersey

Last month drove from Jersey to Charleston. Looked on tripadvisor for suggestions of where to stop for some lunch. Noticed people raving about Fortunato Bros. crab cakes. Got my attention. The place is a small strip mall restaurant. I ordered a crab cake & salad. Hubby had 2 pieces of pizza (which are huge!) & a side salad. He loved the pizza. But the crab cake I ordered was huge w/ more lump crab meat than I've ever seen in any other restaurant. Salad was fresh but I really liked the dressing they gave us when we asked for oil & vinegar. We both liked the sweet & sour taste. But the thing you must try is their crab cake. It was 'the' best I've had anywhere. And I've eaten a lot of crab cakes. Didn't have another on our trip. Wish we lived closer.
