Tina's

Tinas opened in October 1991. The restaurant, which seats 55 guests, has a comfortable bar, and the two intimate dining rooms are divided by a fireplace. Like many of our fellow chefs, we believe that the best food is organically grown. Our search for these foods led us out of the city and into the countryside where we work closely with a great group of farmers. We're closer to the source of what goes onto your plate, and we believe that the opportunity to cook in a wine growing region lends our food a context and flavor and experience that is unbeatable. The menu is based on the foods that our farmer/neighbors grow: seasonal, and regional. Most of the wines that we feature come from just down the road. We are committed to using the best ingredients, and our menu changes as we move through the seasons of the year. Under New Ownership since June 13, 2015, Tina's continues to be a Wine Country Standard, not to be missed. Long time, veteran employees Dwight McFaddin (22yrs), and Michael Stiller (14 years) and their wives have re-energized the Restaurant and have lured back Chef Norma Buchholz (6 yrs) to create a new environment based on all that is best about Tina's and the Wine Country of Yamhill County.

Extremely high quality fine dining experience. I ahve had the same quality in major cities for two or three times the price. 10 course tasting menu with or without wine flight is fantastic. Prepare for at least a two hour experience. Don;t be daunted by the small tastes...you get pretty full by the time #8 comes around. Their signature crab dish is insanely good. Always changing and inventive. Go midweek on the off-season to try their new creations at a bit of a discount.

Coffee Cottage

The original and best - in my opinion.

The Coffee Cottage was a trail blazer. Now every college town has several coffee shops, but back in the day, this was quite an innovation in Newberg. Other places have opened in town, but I keep returning to Coffee Cottage. The coffee is good, the books on sale are good, the greetings cards are quirky, and the atmosphere is fun.

We were heading from the coast to Forest Grove and we were looking for a place to eat a late lunch/early dinner before our flight home. As we neared Forest Grove we were running out of options. Tripadviser lead us to this quaint restaurant.

The GPS sent us on dirt roads....and my husband was getting frustrated. Finally we decided we must be heading to a vineyard, which could be problematic since we do not drink alcohol. We continued on, and ultimately arrived at AgriVino, which is in the middle of farmland. The fall colors on the grapevines in the rolling hills is spectacular. The hills are ablaze in golds. If only the restaurant's windows faced the beauty of the area, instead of the parking lot.

On entering Agrivino we thought we were in a wine tasting room. There are a small number of tables in the center of the room, a wine tasting bar at one end, and wine bottles along a side wall. The restaurant is quite unique, and very relaxing. We were asked about reservations and we advised we were driving through the area looking for a quick bite to eat before dropping our daughter off at college and heading to the airport. We were told the tables were all booked, but since we were early, and only looking for a quick bite to eat, they could accommodate us before the tables filled.

It was Pizza and Gnocchi night. We enjoyed their l pizza of the day, a special cheese and salami, along with a pizza with prosciutto and asparagus. We ordered a bolognese gnocchi. While the friendly waitress recommended three dishes, in actuality one pizza and the gnocchi would have been enough. The gnocchi serving isn't large but it was enough for each of us to have a small portion. I don't usually like gnocchi, but I loved Dario's gnocchi. The pizza tasted just like in Italy. The crust was light and the tomato sauce wasn't overpowering. My daughter ended up taking home the left over pizza.

We were just about to pay the bill when Dario came over and I mentioned I felt like I had made a quick trip to Italy and the food was so good. He mentioned the wine in Italy and we advised we don't drink, instead we love to eat homemade Gelato. We learned they have a contract with a gelato maker and they recommended the Black Forest Gelato, triple chocolate and cherries. Oh my goodness it was heaven. My husband enjoyed Nutella gelato, and he said it was as good as our favorite gelato in Rome.

My husband was so glad he continued on the dirt road. We really felt as though we spent an hour in Italy. It was pure heaven.

Joel Palmer House

Our family business took shape when my great-grandfather, Joseph Czarnecki, opened Joe's Tavern in 1916 in Reading, Pennsylvania. His son, Joseph Jr., carried on the tradition, transforming the original tavern into Joe's Restaurant and changing the focus to fine dining and wine with wild mushrooms (a family passion) as the centerpiece. My father, Jack Czarnecki, followed in his father's footsteps, taking Joe's Restaurant to a new level while maintaining the mushroom theme. Despite the success of Joe's, our family's lifelong desire was to combine great mushroom hunting with fine wine. This dream was fully realized in 1996 when my parents, Jack & Heidi, purchased The Joel Palmer House and moved the family and the restaurant west. Our cooking revolves around wild mushrooms and truffles which we gather ourselves and with friends. We have always striven to obtain locally raised ingredients in our cooking, and we use many locally produced greens, herbs, and vegetables. Frequently we will use ingredients found in the cuisines of Mexico, China, Thailand, Poland, and India, so we call our cooking, “freestyle”. And, of course, we are working hard to create dishes which match the glorious wines of Oregon, especially Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay.

We eat here three years ago and could not wait to return. We were disappointed...the mushroom soup was watery and had little mushroom flavor. It was served in a small bowl-like taurine without the beautiful white cream mushroom design. The mushroom tart lacked density and was "floating" on a thick brown mushroom gravy. The mushroom Risotto was overcooked to the point of having the texture of overcooked rice. The service was great...Andrew was on his game, as was the "bread lady!" Off night? JPH was not that busy. Sadly, it seems JPH has lost the luster it had brightly demonstrated three years ago.

Although I don't get out to Dundee often, I try to visit this restaurant everytime I'm in the area. I've eaten here 3 times. Everything I've had has been good. I have to highly recommend the Chicken Tinga Tostada Breakfast. The food is fresh and delicious.

Service is ok here, not bad, just ok...I think there is an opportunity to step it up and "delight" the customer.

Jem 100 Ice Cream

Reviewed By Tina F - Bonnyville, Canada

We stopped by here for a bite to eat and were extremely impressed with the service and food. This place is comparable to an 50's themed atmosphere diner and is quite cute. SOO many flavour choices in ice cream and they didn't hesitate to let you try some. Burgers were excellent too, again, some pretty cool choices there. It was a fun place, with excellent service, I would definitely recommend Jem 100!
