We arrived in town on Sunday evening and found reviews online about this place. We got there around 7:45 and were promptly greeted and seated by a very polite young lady. Before we could even get seated a old woman came from the back and stated "we are closed, the grill is shut down, were out of food, we have no plates and besides its after 8:00 and you all will need to leave". We looked around and there were many customers eating and ordering and the kitchen was open and it was not yet 8 PM. There was no southern hospitality here and the old woman obviously was not concerned with customer service and could not tell time.

Heard about this place and decided to make the 40 min drive to check it out. It is in the middle of nowhere! But really only about 10 min off of I-40.

The people were very nice. Met the owner and she was as sweet as could be. The food? Awesome! We had a salad and burger and both were amazing. Ended the meal with fried pies. Incredible!

There were only a couple of other tables, but the service was a little slow. Come to find they overcooked the burger and started over. They brought us some beef and vegetable soup on the house to tide us over. It was pretty good!

There was a country music duo and they were VERY good, although loud. We had a hard time conversing because of the volume. There is a mercantile and playground across the street that the kids enjoyed browsing and playing while we waited for the food since we couldn't really talk anyway. :-)

All in all I kinda fell in love with the charm of this place and I can't wait to go back!

After seeing this place on FoodNetwork's "Man, Fire, Food" we knew we had to make 90+ drive to try it out.
It is awesome!
We got a pound of chopped pork, white beans, buns and vinegaar slaw to go.
We have eaten bbq all over the South East US and this is in our top 5 as far as quality and taste.
A lot of places the bbq lacks the smoke flavor but not this place. It wasn't strong but just perfect.
The pork has an awesome all around flavor. The slaw could use a touch of sugar to make it not too strong. The beans were perfect.
We will be making this drive again when we get ready for more great bbq.
Their eat in restaurant burned down recently but they have rebuilt and are within a month of reopening. Don't let that stop you though from going right now as they have a small location in Centerville that has a screened in place to eat.
Some of the best bbq this side of Memphis.

This neat place (Owned by a young woman named Kate) reminds one of those roadside eateries of the pre-interstate era. It's local, folksy and fun. It's a burger, a meat and..., and a picnic (generous outside covered dining area). "Mimi's Chicken" is a must-try original dish. If your're on the Natchez Trace, get off at Centerville and visit the town and Kate
