Yankee Doodles Cafe

I stopped in for lunch at Yankee Doodles and the atmosphere is great! Patriotism abounds in this old classic diner. I had great service from the friendly staff. I was promptly seated and brought water and a menu. There was lots to choose from but I had the Taco salad and a cup of ham and split pea soup. The soup was very good as was the taco salad. The chili on the salad was excellent. It could stand on its own. Clean, fast, friendly and good food. Don’t see how you can go wrong!

Delish Donuts & Coffee

Reviewed By Merritt H - Utah

Stopped on the way to Grand Teton.

Cute mini cake donuts. Got assorted, the vanilla iced are the best. Sad no blueberry. Limited selection but tasty.

Cinnamon rolls looked great, but got donuts and breakfast sandwiches instead.

Sandwiches were big, meat egg and cheese on a bun, hot and tasty.

Kept us full for hours of hiking.

Brenthoven's Restaurant

We heard from a shopkeeper in Jackson Hole that there was a great restaurant down in Alpine which is about 40 minutes south of town. The drive was beautiful and followed the Snake river all of the way. My wife and I made reservations the day before and ended up having a wonderful meal that was quite reasonable for the quality of the food and service. You should arrive a little early and stop in the bar for a drink; one of the owners (Michael) is the bartender, and he makes great drinks. The wine list is good for such a small restaurant (only 6 tables) so don't forget to make a reservation!

Just opened a couple months ago next door to the former Coffee Cabin Bakery (now closed).

We discovered Rivers Coffee Company while spending a couple of nights in Alpine in August. The shop just opened up in summer 2011. They serve fresh locally roasted coffee and espresso drinks. They also serve really amazing breakfast sandwiches (I believe through an agreement with the little cafe next door). I had a sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant that was huge and delicious! The folks here are super-friendly and eager to please. Definitely recommend it!

We have driven by the Old Yellowstone Garage near Alpine many times and never bothered to stop. It's outside looks do not create much "curb appeal." But inside you find a warm, homey, log cabin atmosphere with white linen tablecloths, uniformed staff, and the ambiance of a unique, rural restaurant. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the food - wow - the food is amazing beyond your wildest expectations.

The menu is a northern Italian fusion between country and new age. We were there for a special anniversary dinner and were totally blown away by the breadth and creativity of the menu dishes. While enjoying a very reasonably priced glass of our favorite wine, we decided that we couldn't decide on a single entree. We chose a salad, appetizer, and entree to share - everything sounded delicious.

We were treated to garlic rolls served in a classy conical napkin that were quite honestly the best I have ever eaten. What could be coming down the line?

We started with the "Godfather" salad of grilled baby iceberg with mixed peppers and onions with a roasted artichoke dressing - superb! A crisp classic salad with the zip of hot peppers. This was followed by an antipasti of Florida calamari with peppers, Parmesan, and a smokey tomato vinaigrette. Again, superb - perhaps the best calamari I have ever eaten - and here in rural Wyoming???

The portions are huge and after the bread, salad, and appetizer we couldn't even touch our lasagna entree but we did save room for another classic - tiramisu. Excellent. We brought the lasagna home and enjoyed it reheated the next evening. Hard to believe but reheated, homemade pasta the next night was better than any I have had in Rome, Florence, or Venice.

Overall, our experience at the Old Yellowstone Garage was the best dining experience we have had in many years (and we travel a lot.) The restaurant is worth the drive from Jackson and, in my opinion, beats any restaurant in Jackson for about half of the cost. The Garage is a diner's delight.

Arrived at 7pm. Even though the place was 3/4 empty--since we didn't have reservations, they had to check to make sure they could fit us in.. And, without reservations, we could not sit outside on the patio. A similar sized small party arrived right after us, without a reservation, & was seated on the patio. What's up with that? Between the two of us we had soup (very good), spring rolls & potstickers (excellent), shrimp (good), salad bar (adequate), & a wedge salad which was good enough, but the lettuce had brown parts. Service was polite but a little slow; the waitress apologized explaining how busy they were. I would hate to see what the place would be like if they were more than 25% occupied.

I stopped to have lunch on a Tuesday and ordered a combination pizza. I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed their pizza for I had experienced less than mediocre quality pizza in the area. The place wasn't crowded that day at that time, the toppings and sauce on the pizza were good and I had no complaints with the service.

Because this was a hot summer day, dining inside the restaurant was almost uncomfortable because of the heat.

I do plan to return and try a specialty pizza they serve that comes with sauerkraut.

We grabbed a bunch of sandwiches for our trip on the river. We ended up stopping to eat them at 'Lunch Counter' on the Snake River - and watched folks with their tour rafts go through Big Kahuna and the Lunch Counter rapids. We saw a few guys and gals try to surf the Kahuna, but the day wasn't working out for them. Plenty of folks jumping into the rapids off lunch counter's shelf. The sandwiches made for a good feast while we enjoyed the atmosphere.
