I recently had the pleasure of visiting and dining at The Red Cow for a birthday party.The staff were great. Genuinely friendly and welcoming.The food was cooked to a very high standard. Itâs certainly not fine dining, but itâs as close as youâll get for âpub grubâ.The general consensus of the group was that the quality of the food was excellent, including my own. The sides that accompanied the dishes lacked in terms of variety and portion size. Additional sides werenât offered and would have been welcomed.The childrenâs meals seemed basic - 2 small sausages with a small potion of chips could have been improved by offering an additional side (peas/beans may have been good?).Unfortunately the staff didnât take drink orders which was perhaps a missed opportunity for business? We only saw the staff when they presented and collected our plates. The price of drinks at the bar however were well below expectations!All this being said, I would very happily return again and recommend if you havenât been before.To the staff and management - thank you for an enjoyable evening!

As a family we have enjoyed many a good Sunday lunch at the brynffynon. However today was a big disappointment. Something has gone very wrong. We had to go back to the bar to ask what had happened to our drinks. The service got worse. Deserts that should have been hot were cold. The wait between courses was really long. Then we were served with cold coffee. On leaving I was asked to pay the bill,which in fact my son-in-law had already paid. Not even a sorry from the waitress. It saddens me to write this review because we have enjoyed such good times there. Eira Linehan.

Itâs been hard trying to find a good roast near home, and we came here for the first time last Sunday.Sunday carvery with a choice of 3 meats and plentiful veg and gravy.Proper home cooking, tasty and good portions. Value for money without a doubt. Couldnât fault anything. Service was excellent. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely be back!Thank you so much for taking the time to review Grahams kitchen itâs hard work every Sunday but Iâm so glad you enjoyed and we look forward to seeing you all again

My wife and I visited this restaurant along with 23 others for an evening get together. The meal, for a Christmas celebration was very very good. I had whitebait starter followed by a beef dinner then chocolate brownie with white chocolate ice cream. My wife started with pate then a turkey dinner finishing with Christmas pudding with custard. All the food we had without exception was great but for me the star was the beef which just melted in the mouth. This is definitely somewhere we will visit again.

Went on spec after hearing there was a new bistro in Treorchy. Took longer than expected to be acknowledged that I was at the bar & looking for a menu but, once staff realised i was there, they were attentive. Chose Grey Trees' Digger's Gold beer (brewed in Llwydcoed, Aberdare) as I knew it was good. It was very good but I'd split it if I had a companion next time as a whole bottle is too filling as an aperitif with a meal. Also, once I'd begun eating, the flavour turned to silt. Very much enjoyed soup of the day: broccoli & perl las (cheese) with artisan bread & butter. Mains was chicken, pea puree, rice & chilli - perfectly balanced. I asked for lemon juice but would try lime juice next time to squeeze over my chicken. White wine could have been colder but was good enough. Dessert was affogato served in a cocktail glass - very good, tasted almost alcoholic. Wasn't charged for beer as it had been left over from recent festival so I paid the equivalent of a canned beer & rounded off bill with a tip. Suggested local beer was offered (brewed in Treorchy) & perhaps Treforest's range of beers. Will definitely return but not for chatty catchup - piped music wasn't too loud but very bad: not the shouty stuff you sometimes get but a pedestrian instramental with no purpose. Perhaps I should sit outside? Furniture was odd - plush velvet on benches. Decor looks unfinished - deliberately? I sat at a window table so I could view the impressive hill from the side street. Ladies' loos have lots of textures & each cubicle seemed to have its own basin - great! However, don't try & use communal mirror to touch up your warpaint as there's not enough room for bags etc. Thank you Cardiff Arms Bistro xxx

My 8 year old grand daughter and I went for lunch and to visit Santa on December 1st with friends. She had a fab time seeing Santa upstairs after her lunch. Then ww went to see the Grinch movie and the Santa and reindeer parade in Treorchy high street. Amazing for the kids.

We visited here 2 weeks ago, not booked until last minute but they happily accommodated us. A great big smile to welcome us, the food was excellent - basic Sunday lunch, nothing fancy...just what we wanted. The waiting staff were great too, friendly, polite.... a real must go to pub. Well done all of you!
