The town was named for Alexander Mebane, an American Revolutionary War general and member of the U.S. Congress. It was incorporated as "Mebanesville" in 1881, and in 1883 the name was changed to "Mebane". It was incorporated as a city in 1987. The population as of the 2010 census was 11,393. Mebane is one of the fastest growing municipalities in North Carolina.

Nice location with good parking, friendly staff. It is one of the cleanest steakhouses Iâve ever been to. I sat at the bar since I was alone. I was waited on promptly. The food was served in good time. I had a 10oz. ribeye, salad and backed potato with sour cream and chives. Fair price at $22. I ordered the steak med which was a little too rare, next time I would order medium well. It was good enough to not to have steak sauce. The salad with balsamic vinaigrette was good. The potato was actually baked and a perfect size. I will be returning. This is a large restaurant capable of handing large parties with a very nice bar.

The converted Mill owned by the Rice Family is next door to The Mill Lofts on Highway 70 North. The restaurant provides both outdoor dining and indoor dining. Patrons with dogs will be helped outside on the deck.

So every Sunday the special is, .60 wings,steamed oysters, steamed shrimp. I hardly ever eat there not on a Sunday. My girlfriend and I ate there last night with another couple. I have eaten there hundreds of times in my life and it's always been great. Not the greatest oysters I have ever had but they are really good (you are also talking about a place 150+ miles to the closest beach). Last night was the first time I have ever tried the shrimp and they were also great. The wings are probably the best wings I've had, the sauce choices are slim but all are great.Next Sunday I'm off I'll be there.

Ate here with my daughter this month. We just beat the dinner rush! Nice atmosphere, nice prices and the food was tasty! Will return!

I couldn't believe the revitalization of downtown Mebane. It's nothing like I remember as a teen. The place is so welcoming with an outside patio with chairs to enjoy the night air and a drink. There was live music......which I always enjoy. The music was a little loud, so conversation was a little difficult. I loved the eclectic decor! Food is also served, but we had already eaten. The server was very friendly and gave a great suggestion for my martini. It was good! I would definitely visit again!

Went here again after a 4 year lapse because we'd been told that the Mgr/bartender there now was very good. We were not disappointed, All odf the service, flavor and martinis were served in a very good manner. The manager Shivon was very good at everything. We will go back again !
