Stopped off for a quick drink after work and ended up stopping for a meal. As it was rubbish weather for June we chose sausage, mash and garden peas.Warm welcome on arrival and friendly, attentive service during our whole stay. Husband was disappointed to hear that theyâd run out of Yorkshire pudding bases (7pm on a Friday night), but the meals were lovely in generous portions, with plenty of gravy.Claire looked after us, checking we were OK and very friendly. Hope she has a fab holiday! Such a shame that the loos look like they need a good dose of bleach down them Probably quite clean, just looked grubby with black stains down the loo I used. Dogs are allowed so I got to fuss over a beautiful friendly black Labrador!Hi WendyThank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit to us. I will pass your comments onto Clair when she returns from her holidays. We look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to the UnicornJoanna HarrisGeneral Manager

Visited for a birthday. We fancied a nice country pub and the Bulls Head was recommended. We went on a Sunday and most of the party had the roast - good selection of beef, pork, chicken and lamb. I had the beef and it was delicious, but for £15 it should be! Child portions were poor - for £10 my son had one roast potato! There's probably more reasonably priced options in the area.

Stopped by on a Friday afternoon with two retired ex colleagues. As it happened their own cask beer price was reduced due to happy hour all afternoon till 7. Beer was in top condition, prefered the taste of the 4.2% pale. The brewing coppers at the front and the smell of the brewing process adds to a nice experience. Advertised is a day with the brewer, includes breakfast and lunch, tastings and a take home keg at the end of the day. Great value at £85. Altogether a great place for a catch up with friends Thanks for the 5* review! Say hello to our brewer Andy next time you're in and get some samples of everything he does, his beer is great and we love having him show it off.Team B&K

Warm friendly atmosphere with a great selection of cask and craft beers showing live sports and entertainment!
Could smell this wood fired pizza oven before I even got inside the pub but on the staff recommendation ordered the steak and it was immense. Really friendly atmosphere & great selection of beers! Not sure Iâm brave enough for the 40â pizza but definitely will be back.

Local cask ales, fresh local produce, pub classics, sandwiches, set menus and an ever evolving A La Carte menu. Dogs welcome. Bookings strongly advised on Sunday to avoid dissapointment.
I have been to the Wizard many times over the years. We had a day off and the weather was horrendous so we though we would go to the pub for lunch. First off, there is a sign to say wait here for a table but it is in a place where no one can actually see you are waiting. Then we were eventually seated and it was quite some time before someone even brought the menus. The service was terribly slow. When we had finally managed to order it took another 45 minutes for our burgers to show up. The food was good with nice chips and generally the flavour of the burger was fine. However, as a lot of pubs seem to do with burgers now, the burger was so enormously stacked that there is no possible way to eat it as a burger and you had to cut bits off with a knife and fork so you couldn't get the flavour of the cheese, brisket, burger and sauce in one mouthful. It was a shame because I think it would have been very good had it not been 9 inches in height and there wasn't really room on the plate to easily cut a burger into pieces . The man at the bar asked if everything was OK and my husband told him that the burgers were too stacked to eat as a burger. His response was that he wouldn't accept our feedback as this was not constructive criticism and that, yes, people eat burgers with their hands in McDonald's but in restaurants everybody eats burgers with a knife and fork. I am quite surprised by this point of view as really burgers are hot sandwiches and you wouldn't get a sandwich and eat the filling separate from bread with a knife and fork. I don't think I have seen someone order a burger in a restaurant and start eating it with a knife and fork. I am going to go out on a limb and say that most people would pick it up and eat it with their hands. I found him very rude as it suggested he had made a judgement of what sort of people we are and it ruined our trip out on what was already a washout of a day off, just because we thought the burger would have been nicer to eat if it was a third of the height. I am not going to go back to this pub.Firstly let me say we take all comments and feedback seriously at the Wizard. Regarding waiting times I find it hard to believe you waited 45 minutes for a burger?? I remember your table and Iâm positive you ordered starters ? If Iâm incorrect did you book ? We did have a lot of walkins that afternoon and it was all between 1pm and 2pm. Sometimes the kitchen just can not cope if everyone orders together. All our food is freshly made to order and a microwave is not used. Regarding the actual âcomplaint â I was a little confused about what you were complaining about. You said the food was very tasty, and you enjoyed it ??? Iâm going to go out on a limb and say surly thats job done on our front but you went on to say your experience was ruined because you couldnât eat your burger with your hands. I just found the complaint a bit bizarre. My comment about McDonaldâs was my attempt to inject a little humour into the situation and was not in any shape or form a judgement of the sort of people you are. We service hundreds of customers each week from all different parts of the country and everyone is welcome. Obviously itâs your right to make any comment you wish, and on this occasion I felt it was my right to give my opinion as well, and for that reason you have deemed me rude. We do hope you visit again soon

Arrived on saturday afternoon, some sort of drinks function with around 30 guests was happening. Went to the bar to get seated, but there was a group of people stood in the way who obviously hadnt been taught basic manners, ie, get your drinks and then get out the way so other people can order. barstaff told us to get some menus off a sideboard then head to the restaurant. Not very welcoming. A waitress appeared eventually and seated us. Ordered drinks, g+t for her and a lemonade. My lemonade was just soda water, their postmix had run out but not been changed. Ordered a garlic pizza bread to share and a dirty burger and a wagyu burger. The bar guy appeared with our starter and I took the opportunity to have my lemonade replaced for an actual lemonade. The garlic pizza was dry, had parmesan shavings on it and undressed, limp rocket leaves scattered about...obviously i had no drink to wash it down yet until we'd almost finished the bread. Also came uncut with a blunt pizza cutter, really do not want to be carving my own pizza at the table unless you're going to give me a chopping board and a big knife. When you serve bread it's customary to serve it with a fat, such as butter. so it slides down your throat easier. A little pot of balsamic and oil or chilli oil or anything would have gone down a treat. But it didnt. Our mains came, i had the wagyu, which was overcooked, dry and tasteless, she had the dirty burger which was actually really good. Chips were average. My garlic prawns were weird, had a strange texture, just fell apart in the mouth. I'd hazard they were old, or had been defrosted rapidly. the garlic butter was slimy and gloopy, so i sent them back. waitress was very inexperienced and absent a lot. difficult to get hold of her for anything. I wish id ordered the dirty burger as it was so much better than the wagyu burger. The manager comped the prawns and £10 from our bill, which was very generous, I'd have paid for the burger since I ate it all.So in summary I had a very mediocre meal and The Mrs had a lovely meal. If I go back, which I may well do, I'll choose the dirty burger. Dont bother with the wagyu tbh. Hi robertsC95114BL,Thank you for you feedback, thaere are certainly points in your review that we will be able to work on. We went along to The De Trafford for a family Sunday Dinner and (once again) we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived we were treated like old friends by the wonderful, attentive Helen and her team. Nothing was too much trouble and her recommendations and helpful suggestions were gratefully received. The food was expertly prepared and presented and was excellent value for money, Amusing to reflect on the fact that, along the road in Alderley Edge, there will be inferior food presented at vastly superior prices.Very impressed with the whole experience and we'll be back very soon. Thanks Helen and everyone else at The De Trafford Arms - Keep up the excellent work!Five stars! Wow, thank you! Lovely to read your comments about your experience, I'll make sure to pass them on to the rest of the team.

We visited about 7pm on a Sunday evening and had a wonderful meal. The mussels and beef bourginon that I had and the cheese soufflé and duck my husband had was all fabulous. The service was great and the team even put the radiator on for me when I requested it as I hadnât dressed in a jumper (despite knowing better!) Always lovely and a great place. Highly recommended. Thank you Alison for the lovely review! It is most appreciated! We look forward to seeing you soon to enjoy our warming Autumn Menu!
