Fugassa & Faina - Pizzeria

Didn't feel like eating out last night so grabbed a large pizza to take back to the apartment. Pizza was made fresh for us and just average. Crust does not taste fresh but more pre-packaged, sauce was not great and cheese not great either.Just average fast food pizza. Not true Italian food.

Il Discovolo

I’d checked Trip Advisor’s ‘gluten free options’ option before and after arriving in Manarola but after looking at menus and seeing no reference to allergies or GF I did some googling and went with this place. It doesn’t really have a dine in option though I ate in the seats out the front which felt very ‘local’…. Though I suspect I stuck out like a sore thumb instagramming my pizza and wine. They have A HEAP of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options and the guy who served me was so helpful. He also suggested a local wine (a half bottle) which was 5 euros and I took the remnants to watch the sunset after I’d finished my pizza. I had ham, tomato and mozzarella for 8 euros and it was delicious. I’m heading back tomorrow night for pasta. It was easy to just return to the same place the next night as I knew they had gluten-free pasta and I decided to get takeaway while I watched the sun set so had pesto pasta which I think was 12 Euros. The owner / guy was really helpful and knew exactly what I could and couldn’t have. It’s probably best as a takeaway option though (like I said) I felt a bit more local sitting out the front on a stool eating the first night.

Pizzeria Capolinea

My partner and I both agree that this is the best pizza we have ever tasted, and we have had a lot of pizza in our lives!! The vegetarian pizza was fresh and made right in front of us in the woodfire oven. The base is so delicious. Staff are very friendly and even let us take a picture. We are still traveling around Italy and have yet to taste a decent pizza like theirs. We have been spoilt!! Highly recommended.

Seems like we were an inconvenience with our waitress with that nasty attitude that italians can sometimes get. It seemed like we were causing her too much work! Unfriendly service. The 'signature pizzas' are pricey in comparison to others on the menu, but I they are good not doubt. The place was busy and I found our pizzas to be cold when delivered by another waiter. I will have to say that the pizza is very good, but with the service and attention that we received.... I can do without that part of the experience and will make me think twice about coming back. I ordered the prize winning Gola Pizza which named as an ingrediente crushed pine nuts.... I saw only a few.

We popped in and had mixed fried fish on our arrival then went back to try the pesto focaccia having learnt pesto is quite the thing around here. Well, it was the best we have ever tasted and went back this morning and are going again tomorrow before we leave to have more. Davide is so welcoming and it is a MUST if you are in Riomaggiore.

Veciu Muin

Arrived at Veciu Muin without a reservation and already people were queuing to get in. The waiter at the front of the restaurant asked us if we could wait 10/15 minutes. He did a great job communicating with the queue and kept us and everyone else waiting updated on their tables progress. Once inside we ordered various pizza and pasta dishes both containing gluten and gluten free. The waiter had excellent knowledge of which dishes could be adapted to gluten free and which ones had to be avoided due to cross contamination. Our son who is coeliac ordered pizza and said it was the best of his holiday. I would recommend anyone in Riomaggiore who needs safe gluten free food to choose Veciu Muin.

This was our first trip to Cinque Terre and my first time trying Pesto Farinata. Our family LOVES Italian food and were delighted to try find this place while on a tour. OH. EM. GEE. I have never had such a delicious snack in my life!! DO YOU HEAR ME PEOPLE?? You have to try the Peso Farinata here!! The pesto is generous and has an amazing fresh taste. It is dripping in olive oil (see my photo), which btw is a healthy fat! Our daughter tried the potato and pesto dish (it looked like a slice of pie) and enjoyed it. I am DETERMINED to make this when I get back in the states. And if the owner is reading this and wants to share that recipe, feel free to inbox me!

We tried this restaurant after a recommendation from our hotel. Based on other places we ate, this was just average. They appeared to be understaffed and there was only one waiter responsible for the entire inside portion. It took over 10 minutes to get someone to notice us and put in a drink order. Then at least another 5 to 10 minutes to get our drinks (just a draft beer and a spritz). We ordered 4 oysters which I don’t recommend. They were very small and my husband and I both felt queasy later in the evening after eating. We both had the spaghetti with seafood in aluminum packet. It was ok but limited amounts of seafood compared to other places we ate. In summary, there are better places to eat in the area.
