Lappeenranta (Swedish: Villmanstrand) is a city and municipality situated on the shore of the lake Saimaa in southeastern Finland, about 30 kilometres (19 miles) from the Russian border. It belongs to the region of South Karelia. With approximately 73,000 inhabitants (31 August 2017) Lappeenranta is the 13th largest city in Finland. The neighboring municipality of Joutseno was consolidated with Lappeenranta on January 1, 2009, and the neighboring municipality of Ylämaa on January 1, 2010. Lappeenranta is known as an international university city in Finland with Lappeenranta University of Technology and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences which together have approximately 13,000 students from 68 countries. Lappeenranta is also a commercial centre of South-East Finland and the meeting point of the EU and Russia, 215 km from both Helsinki and St. Petersburg. Location on the southern shore of Lake Saimaa makes the city the region’s centre for tourism. Lappeenranta is the second most visited city by Russian tourists in Finland after Helsinki and it competes with Helsinki for the largest share of tax-free sales in Finland. Lappeenranta is a model for renewable energies and a clean living environment. Lappeenranta was the only Finnish city among the 14 finalists in the international Earth Hour City Challenge 2014, organized by WWF.

Only gas stations for boats in the harbor area, open in the summer time. Usually service included, when filling up the tanks. Small restaurant, mainly for coffee and drinks, some fast food available. Spare parts and tools for sale. Public toilet, shower and sauna for harbor guests.

This is a quiet, nice restaurant with central easy access location. Food is very tasty and there is a take-away possibility and also delivery service.I recommend the indian dishes, also all the kepab's I've tried have been better than average. The only minus is that the delivery times are sometimes over an hour due to popularity.

Ever been to a place where there is too much cheese or the order gets mixed up? This is our experience of Don Papa, Situated in an area with shopping footfall one would have thought the restaurant would be prepared for lots of customers but on the evninbg we visited it all seemed to go to pot. Two table staff were in severe difficulties trying to keep up but the food was unremarkable at best, to be honest quite disappointing. I seldom write cautious views - we were too polite on the evening but sought the quickest opportunity to exit - we entered at 6pm and left at 9pm for very simple burger/pizza/ice-cream meals, whioch somewhat proves my point.

We always wanted to try this place and finally we were here for late laid-back Monday lunch. We ordered marinated buffalo mozzarella and pan fried King prawns for starters. For mains we ordered grilled chicken and rack of lamb. The food was delicious and fresh, especially the leafy salad that came with all the portions. The rack of lamb was prepared perfectly (in fact the best lamb I have had in a long time). The service was prompt and polite. The food and the check arrived on time. It took about 1 hour and 10 minutes from taking order to check. The food is on slightly expensive side though. We will return on some special occasion to try more from the menu.

Very tasty, big portions, awesome! You pay for main dish (pizza or kebab - there are a lot of options), and you can drink tea/coffee and eat salads.We tried KaneKebab with potato (you can also choose rice) - and it was excellent! Highly recommend ! ;)

Having lived in Italy for some time I had no expectation when entering this restaurant. I had seen the place in Lappeenranta for some time, but thought that it is one of those nothing-so-special Italian restaurants that you find in many towns. What a surprise it was to enter the restaurant and find it nicely and cosily decorated. The food was really delicious. We had lunch from the buffet and considering the price, it really was matching the quality. The service in the restaurant was also very fast and good. I will absolutely return here and visit this place again.

I ended up having my dinner here as nearly all of the other places were closed for midsummer eve. Nothing to complain really. Everything is easy and tasty but still you cannot help thinking that there is little local effort: it is just the same as in any Rosso in Finland.

This was the first restaurant that we tried in Holiday Club Saimaa and had our lunch. Though we reached late, the staff was ever smiling. The pizzas are really big in size and they have big portions of salads. So think before you order. :)I liked the restaurant very much. Delicious food, quick service and nice ambience. It was past lunch time so the restaurant was almost empty. They have a small aquarium also with nice colorful fishes.

I was amazed by the quality of Avot sie's food and ingridients. At the lunchtime the salad table is filled with all kinds of fresh, tasty things not forgetting protein. Was there olive oil? Only thing that was missing on the table. Really it was so great! The vegan diet has also be remarked well: one of the lunch meal is always vegan and coffee is served with oat milk.One remarkable thing is that the restaurant has local bread and locally brewed coffee. A big plus!I can not believe I just paid a bit over 10 euros for that everything I got: A salad buffet, the vegan hamburger meal (it was huge!) and a coffee with an apple pie desert.I am going again any time soon!!
