Salsas Mexican Cuisine & Cantina

Been to Salsas several times and usually find it mostly satisfactory. However, recently visited on Sunday at lunch. Restaurant was about 1/2 full, but noticed there was only one, perhaps two servers on duty. Not wanting a long delay, we opted for the buffet. I am not a fan of most Mexican buffets and this one did nothing to change my mine. Food seemed to have been on the line a little longer than it should have been. Lost its looks and had began to become somewhat cool. Our assumption about shortage of servers proved to be true. Under staffed.

The real estate lady said Lupe Tortilla but dinner found us in Georgetown where such a thing doesn't exist. So we tried this place. MEH I've had better Mexican and better service. The portions of chips and salsa were small in comparison to most places. They kept bringing more but we quickly ran out each time. I have had much better queso. The Tamale was average at best. The rice dry and tasteless and I got Charro Beans which were more onions then beans. The server got it done but not very impressively. if we move to Georgetown this will probably not be our choice for Mexican. I've had better Tex-Mex in North Carolina.

Nice, small breakfast/lunch venue just off the Georgetown Square. Fantastic breakfast tacos with about any combination of items you might want. Great coffee and friendly service. Enjoyed sitting there listening to several of the locals plan their day's activities and sharing their stories.

Mas Fajitas

So far our favorite Mexican restaurant in Georgetown. We moved to Georgetown one year ago and are still feeling out the restaurant scene. So far Masfajitas has been our favorite all around place for Mexican food. Some have better Margaritas, some better tacos or decor but this place is the best when looking at the whole experience. We like the Nachos when there are like 8 chips and each adorned with toppings rather than the “traditional” way of just glopping all the topping on top of a pile of chips. Their Carne Guisada was tender and great flavor. The Fajitas were good although the chicken was a tad bit dry it had good flavor, the beef fajita was real good. Our server Ikram was very pleasant and attentive to our needs.

This was our first visit to their new location. Took a while to get seated until the hostess appeared. We were excited as we had not been to this new location. After about 5 minutes a man (manager) came by and asked if we had been waited on and we said no. We were 1 of 4 tables in the dining rooms that were occupied. There was a small group in a private room. When a waitress came by we ordered drinks (water) and meals. Fish tacos for my wife and beef enchiladas for me. These are the meals we normally ordered at the old location. My food arrived on a hot plate with the normal cautionary warning not to touch the plate. First few bites were just OK as was the remainder. It was not the flavors I remembered. My wife took one bite of her fish tacos and got no fish. She recoiled at the next bite and said something is wrong with the fish. She proceeded to take the fish out of both tacos and eat only the garnishments. I could smell the fish from the opposite side of our booth which was not a good thing. Waited for our waitress to no avail. When the waitress did return I informed her that she may want to let the kitchen know to check the fish and that the meal was inedible to my wife. She took both our plates and returned immediately with the check. The bill for our two meals, with tip, was $34 which is way too much for 1 average meal, 1 inedible meal and two glasses of water which never were refilled. I asked for a manager to explain but was told “he left for a while”. Our first visit to La Playa in Georgetown Texas was our last as well.

I go here regularly and today had lunch which was great. I’ve tried most items offered and never had a complaint. Service has always been good. If you have never been here don’t wait for them to bring a check simple go to the register and pay. They don’t bring one to your table. This place is off Austin Ave in a small house and is locally owned

While visiting family in Georgetown, our party of eight was treated to dinner at Mariachi de Jalisco, where we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the music, and the service was great! The menu offers pretty much every imaginable Mexican dish that you will find in any Mexican restaurant. We were greeted with such friendly, smiling greeters; the service was fast and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. We arrived during happy hour, and the margaritas were only $1.99!We understand that a Mexican family owns this restaurant, so the food is truly authentic, and it is very popular with the locals. If we find ourselves back in Georgetown, Mariachi's will be at the top of our list!

We've been eating here since they opened a few years back. They have been through a lot of changes through the years, but I would say they finally have it right. You can even make reservations ! Food is great and so are the Mexican Martinis ! Great coffee in their French press. Delicious tres leches. Very fresh chips and homemade salsa. Try this gem in Georgetown ! One suggestion .... as the day goes on they need to refresh their restrooms. They are not bad, but they could and should be better. The former management would never let the restrooms not reflect the overall quality of the restaurant. Again, they are not bad....but you all used to do better. For women, a clean restroom is important. It is harder to do when you do the "share the bathroom with men" thing. Sorry. Truth !!

Been to this place several times over the years. On a visit last year we noticed that the plastic containers they serve tortillas in smelled like mildew and had some black stuff on them (probably mildew). Went back for dinner the other night, and really noticed that the walls, silverware, and plates just aren't that clean. Tortilla holder had faint mildew smell. We are going to look for another Tex-Mex place to go to when we are in town.
