Crabtrees Restaurant

Mediterranean/Continental/Restaurant

This visit to Crabtrees was our first since it opened. Mediterranean/American style is not my first choice for eating out. But to make the wife happy and our friend happy since it was her birthday and our 50th anniversary. The service is excellent with water being repeatedly refilled and the crumbs removed very quickly. The 1st thing that annoyed me was this pesky fly throughout the whole time we were at the table. No one is going take swats during a meal so I have no solution. The front door is constantly being opened. My 2nd problem (and I know it is my fault), was the vegetables. Each dish comes with mashed potato and a mix of vegetables like yellow and green zucchini, stringbeans, and pieces of broccoli(ugh) and some slices of beets (ugh 2).For starters our friend had the buratta salad and i shared the escargot with wifey. That came in the full shell on a plate of garlic sauce which is what makes this dish so good. For main course our friend had the darla's chicken, wife had the salmon and I had the porterhouse style 16 ounce pork chop. The chop was huge and covered with sauteed peppers and onions. The chop was very good but I probably would have been happier had I stuck with my first thought of getting 2 appetizers and a salad. I studied the menu and really wanted the calamari plate and the escargot with a salad.Appetizers and salads run from $11-15 while most main dishes run in the teens to 30+.When we arrived the place was not too filled but when we left on a Sunday nite , it was packed. If you are still hungry for dessert, get the gelato.

Avli Little Greek Tavern

This restaurant was recommended by friends for a family dinner with the accent on Greek cuisine of course.. We mostly ordered lamb kebabs but found these remarkably tough and without flavour. We were very surprised by the charges for wine when finally receiving the bill - frankly outrageous. In addition as a party of eight we were placed in what one might describe as a corridor. Cross this one off your list !

We came for a family celebration. This is certainly our favorite Greek restaurant and possibly our favorite family restaurant. We have been coming here since Farias opened. Our little kids love the octopus grilled. We enjoyed for appetizer A delicious summer salad with water billing. We also had fried calamari, so I cannot do,. For entrées several of us had swordfish steak, lamb chops, branzino, and stuff flounder. Everything was fabulous. The house was great as was the Greek beer and a delicious coffee frappe. We were very fortunate to see Maria, the owner and famous chef from the TV show “Chopped”. She received a big award the same day for being an outstanding immigrant business woman in Queens County. Maria is just great. This is a lovely family-owned restaurant with fabulous food. We recommend reservations.

Pita Park

Casual dining in a intimate setting

Reviewed By Escalade5

The restaurant has an elegant but cozy feel, perfect for couples. I was part of a group of nine. There were very few customers so there was virtually no wait. I had reviewed the menu in advance and had decided on ordering crab cakes. The waitress asked what I wanted in terms of a soup or salad and a side. I declined. I just didn't want all that food. Just the crab cakes. She said I could take the sides home if I liked, they are included. I expected to be able to order my meal how I wanted, but when I saw she wouldn't bulge and was going to make me pay $16.95 for a crab cake platter I didn't want, I opted for the spinach pie appetizer and fries instead. The pie was nicely plated, flaky, okay. A tad short on flavor. The fries was crispy. Four stars for the ambiance, the attentive waitstaff and the food portion sizes. One star less for not accommodating my original order.
