This is a small storefront style Japanese restaurant specializing in sushi. The offerings are limited otherwise I would have given an excellent rating but everything I tried was excellent and the service is great. But what may set it apart from other sushi/Japanese places are the prices and value. They have the standard fish, some specials, a big selection of rolls and some cooked dishes. With a nice lunch selection you get your main course with a soup and salad, add some tea and get away with a nice meal for a little more than you'd spend at McDonalds!!!

WOW! Jean (hostess/server) and Alex (chef) have created a wonderful new restaurant as an offshoot of their catering business (Kawali Cafe and Reception Center) in Sandy. The restaurant itself is beautiful with views of a lovely garden that is utilized in nice weather and a nice sushi bar where Alex performs his "magic". Fresh fish flown in from Hawaii is treated in the traditional Japanese manner with everything beautifully presented and the plates decorated such that they are artwork and representative of how sushi is treated in Japan. The cuts of sashimi are generous, sushi is terrific and rolls are creative and excellent. They also offer cuisine from other areas of the Pacific for those not fans of sushi so it is an ideal spot for families with differing tastes and likes. Chef Alex will prepare anything you like provided the ingredients are available, and offers many specials of his own creation. You must try the seared Escolar, one of the finest dishes I have ever had. For fans of Uni, very difficult to find in this area, Alex will order it for you with some advance notice. Put Kobe 101 on your radar and get there as soon as you can as you will have a wonderful meal served in a pleasant atmosphere by very friendly hosts. All dishes are fairly priced and as a special to attract attention they are offering half price on sushi (not sashimi) until the end of the year!!!

Experienced very good, unique, Sushi combinations with very good service and white, cloth, table clothes. Was surprised that the bill was so reasonable. We were directed to Blue Marlin by some locals while skiing at Snowbird. Loved the place. We'll be back next winter.

When I am craving Udon noodle soup, I always go here. It is great! I usually get it to go and will sometime get other items to go with it. Never disappointed.

We were close by and ran a search for restaurants near by. There were many choices but this one caught our eye and it just seemed unique. We ordered a rice bowl and a beef burrito. We had no idea it was going to be like a big oriental wrap. It was so good, so fresh and we can't wait to go back to try some of the other creations. Highly recommend this place.

I've been to plenty of teppanyaki restaurants all over, and this one was decent for Sandy, UT, the staff were friendly and service was good, but as a whole experience it was lacking. It could've been because our tables other patrons were not very enthusiastic/energetic/friendly, my friend and I were the only ones who seemed excited to be there. The chef only gives you 2 sauces for dipping, I've been to teppanyaki places where they give you 8 different sauces, some of which are mixed/made right in front of you... typically on average at least 3-4 sauces are given for dipping at these types of restaurants. I would suggest the chefs add more sauces!The food was good, the steak and shrimp were cooked just right, but with pretty mediocre dipping flavors. The warm sake was good. The fried rice was pretty bland. I've had spicy ones and much more flavorful ones at other places. My friend really liked all of it though as she has never really experienced this type of dining before, so maybe for first timers it's a great experience. Prices were also good value IMO. They seem to be doing very well, it was still busy when we came in at 8:30pm and people were still walking in after we sat down and started eating. All in all we would go back if I'm in Utah again.

Slow time of day, 3pm. Ordered my favorite: small plate short ribs minus green onions. Plated beautifully as usual. Meat was undercooked. And I just couldnt bring myself to send it back- general rumors ya know.My daughter joined later and service was very slow. We ordered coconut glory dessert minus coconut flakes. The ice cream was ginger instead of coconut.Tsunami usually does not disappoint, but it did today and this was my first time at the SJ location.Tracie- Thank you for sharing your recent experience at our South Jordan location.
