Cannot say enough about my experience dining at Shinbe. My guesthouse operator recommended it and I am sure glad he did. Dining alone, the lovely host sat me at the bar. From there I got to watch the expert chefs prepare all sorts of dishes. The place was packed with families and groups of friends which made it a lively experience watching people. I'm not sure if it was family run, but it felt like everyone knew and genuinely liked each other. I had the sashimi platter which was excellent and the fried eggplant. They had an English menu which was nice and the staff were most attentive. A group beside me encouraged me to try some sort of water snail and shrimp balls, both of which I would recommend.

We visited here last night and it was excellent, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is warm and cosy! We tried many different things and all were thoroughly enjoyable. The food is delicious!

i've been to tons of Japanese restaurant and this one is really good! Each dish was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented - a true delight. the homemade vanilla ice cream was amazing! the host was extremely resourceful about kumano kodo pilgrimage walk and speaks perfect english, japanese and cantonese. i would recommend this place!

Yummy and highly affordable Japanese food. Everything is freshly made. The restaurant owner is very hospitable and funny. If you are interested in knowing more about Japanese cultures and wanna enjoy local food, the place is a must go. Only 6000 yen for a nice dinner for two people.

This is a shop selling fresh fish and seafood. You can get it prepared / grilled and eat on-site: There is a room with nice seaview. No english written or spoken but all the food is in front of you: No problem at all and Japanese customers are more than ready to help you. Highly recommended!
