The view speaks for itself, this is the beautiful part of Lake Como after all! The food is exquisite, interesting dishes home-cooked from fresh ingredients - simple yet full of flavour. A refreshing change from the "standard" Italian menu, and free from all the dressy touches that seem to prevail these days. Service is unobtrusive but efficient; dishes are brought to the table as soon as they are cooked, rather than being kept hanging around on the pass waiting until the whole table can be served together. Some may not like this. The family and staff may appear a bit reserved at first - regulars know better, they are delightful - but you may have to give a smile to get one.And to the reviewer who calls this a bad restaurant because they wouldn't allow his dog in, I can assure you that dogs are allowed in (a fault in my book as I hate to see dogs in restaurants) so there must have been some reason.........I'd suggest a return visit without the dog as you are missing a treat.

We went with our 3 kids. The staff was really busy and did not manage to get the meals on the right order and at the right time. Pizzas were good but nothing special. Risotto was sooooo oily.... Nothing special and the view is not so nice...Buona sera Antonie...Sono molto dispiaciuta a leggere questa recensione..Il mercoledì sera da 5 anni a questa parte siamo soliti fare la promozione della pizza che ti permette di scegliere una pizza una bibita e un caffè a soli 10 euro...ovviamente il ristorante era pieno ma io personalmente sono subito venuta a prendere l ordine...e dato che la memoria non mi manca avete ordinato 3 baby margherite una speck e Zola e lei ha ordinato un riso al pesce persico....tutte queste pietanze sono arrivate insieme e di questo ne sono sicura io personalmente....Parla di olio nel riso?à fuori strada....trattasi di burro rigorosamente nostrano e salvia....Ricordo anche che vi siete seduti dentro dato che la nostra terrazza panoramica era completamente riservata e lei ha chiamato decisamente troppo tardi...ovviamente dall interno la vista non è bellissima....

Basic food, and basic menu ... perfect if you're indecisive about menus!!! Awesome spot up in the hills behind Dongo. A few other Crottos along the path also... only tried this one, but would be keen to give the others a go! Great place for lunch. A must do on a stay around lake Como.

Nothing can beet this site, right at the lakefront. Tucked away from the busy street. The Pizza is yummy and we loved their mixed fried fish - both from the lake and from the sea. The staff ist friendly and takes the order in Italian, English or German. The kids menu was our daughters favorite.Thank you for your gentle review. See you

Came for lunch and enjoyed the great location right next to lake and decent food and good service. Dinner was a little less special as same menu no specials, tepid monk fish lacking the va va vroom its outside premises appears to promise. Casual dress, next door to camping site. Would revisit for lunch and maybe give second chance try, maybe more local pizza and pasta, overall it's nice location and ok service just not as special food wise as it looks. Apparently great drinks terrace on roof, so maybe a bit more a couples and young persons place.

Where do you start in describing one of the best Sunday lunches of all time?Let's start with the location. It's perched high above Lake Como, with breathtaking views.It's run by a delightful woman who speaks English and who squeezed us in even though we hadn't booked: top tip, book this place for Sunday lunch before you leave for your holiday in the high season or you may not get in. We went in early May, and it was full with locals. You can sit out on the terrace but you'll get more of the authentic Italian Sunday lunch experience inside.Pick the amazing set price lunch menu which was 28 Euros when we visited - there were cheaper options or an a la carte menu. You start with a choice of antipasto misto, gnocchi or buckwheat noodles - at least, we thought you did and were surprised when we weren't asked what we wanted. The reason for that was that you get ALL of them. Our first course actually consisted of fried mozzarella balls, a plate of delicious ham and mushrooms, another platter of two kinds of home-made salami and two kinds of ham, a plate of pickles and Russian salad, a hot home-made salami with polenta, followed by the buckwheat noodles and the best gnocchi we've ever tasted.Then it's into the recovery position until the main course arrives - a plate of grilled vegetables and grilled lamb, spare ribs, steak and chicken, with more polenta. It was so big - and we knew there was more to come - so we asked the nice lady if we could take some of the meat home with us, American-style. This, of course, she was happy to do, so don't feel bashful about asking for it. Pudding was the largest slice of tiramisu you ever did see, ice cream, sorbet, marmalade cake or a delicious wobbly panna cotta. For the sake of clarity - you only get one of those!We then went out onto the terrace to gaze at that view with our coffees. You could also have had a digestif but those roads down were pretty steep and narrow, so we passed on that. With (the very good house) wine, it cost us less than 70 Euros for two but we'd have happily paid twice for one of the best dining experiences ever. You see what I mean when I say that five stars weren't enough. Grazie Mille!

Me and my boyfriend have been in the restaurant and the food is great! The Chef is really nice and funny. He made some jokes with me and then he invited us to drink some of his self made Limoncello. It was a really pleasant stay. Thank you so much! I hope I will see you again for some more jokes and more of your awesome pizza!!

Nice set menu for a group of friends, good value, large quantities for traditional dishes of average quality. Pity for the mouldy cake that was served at the end of lunch. Although the owners seemed sincerely sorry, definitely something that should not have happened.

We loved stumbling across this restaurant. The staff were so accommodating (we arrived after the official lunchtime serving hour and they adapted the menu to suit us as vegetarians). They clearly take great pride in their food and explained each dish and itâs origins. Weâd definitely go back.
