We have been going to Sunday Brunch at The Galvez for the last 10 years and is by far one of the best Sunday Brunch we’ve ever experienced. The food is excellent, with wide variety to choose from. The seafood is wonderful, the desserts are fabulous and the champagne adds that extra happiness to brunch. Ask for a table on the veranda, it has a great view of the pool and the seawall.

Sapori

After skimming through several reviews, we opted to try this place out, and we were so happy we did!Fresh, home-made food and desserts! Not lies like some similar places that then try to heat up and pass off previously-frozen garbage as restaurant-quality. Sapori’s is delicious and unique! The absolute two things we love in a restaurant! The restaurant itself is quaint and understated, but we could not care less so long as it’s clean, they have great food, and there’s a place to sit, -all of which they had! The server was friendly and attentive...and even offered us a box to take home the goody-goodness we could not finish. The reviews commenting on high prices could not be further from the truth!!! Unless your knowledge-base of food pricing comes from ordering off of dollar menus, no one in their right mind can complain about the prices! We found it to be extremely reasonable and actually a terrific bargain for the high quality of good food we received! We expected the bill to be much higher than it turned out to be!I actually would rate this restaurant a 4.5 if I could, because they technically have no kid’s menu and because I was not a fan of their meatballs...they were just...odd...like not odd bad, just not what we were expecting. I cannot fault them because it was just a different taste than what we are use to eating. No harm, no foul! The clams, muscles and manicotti more than made up for it!!! I opted to round up and give this place 5 stars to make up for the reviews possible written by people who are use to eating food from drive thru windows. Seriously?! How can you call this place expensive when they use all fresh ingredients and make it all by hand?! How much is hours of your labor worth in terms of currency? Let alone rent, staff, electricity, supplies, food, etcetera? The desserts were divine! No prepackaged over processed nonsense here! The only problem was choosing just one!Btw, it’s BYOB :)If you’re thinking about it, give this place a try! Especially when you consider other so-called Italian restaurants in this area, -I believe you’ll be happy you did!

I ordered the lasagna & the biggest piece of lasagna I've ever received in an Italian restaurant. For cheese lovers my piece was covered with melted mozzarella cheese & running off the sides. Made with their famous meat sauce that covered my husbands spaghetti & meatballs. I also took 1/2 home. Returning 10/19 & will be ordering the pizza. Trattoria La Vigna

My wife, grandson, and I enjoyed a fantastic, authentic, Italian meal at Trattoria La Vigna duirng our week in Galveston. We always look for local eateries and restaurants that we do not have at home. The restaurant is slightly off Strand near Post Office which was an advantage being away from the commotion on Strand. Of course I reserved a table; we were greeted in a most welcoming manner and seated promptly. The bread and oil were a great start. Trattoria La Vigna helped us achieve our goal of eating seafood at each meal. Zuppa de Pesce could not have been better offering a variety of seafood on a bed of spaghetti and resting in a rich seafood broth. My wife totally was pleased with the crab and cuttlefish ravioli. Naturally, our grandson enjoyed spaghetti with two huge meatballs. The waitress was attentive, cheerful, and helpful by recommending wines to pair with our meals. And, not the least, pasta and sauces are made in house. We stopped by the open kitchen to thank the chef and share comments with him. A few restaurants are on our "bucket" list when visiting Galveston. Trattoria La Vigna now is one of those that we must not miss. If you appreciate true, authentic Italian meals, you must visit Trattoria La Vigna.

I have eaten here on my last three trips to Galveston. Was very disappointed this time. We arrived about 8 p.m. and there were not very many customers. We were greeted promptly and then it went downhill. It took 1 1/2 hours to get our food (we were a party of 6). During that time our drinks ran out and were not refilled. One of us ordered fettucine alfredo with ham and the ham was left off. Once food was served, the waiter never came back to check on us until we were finished eating. I will not be going back.

Located in the Lobby of the San Luis Resort on Seawall Blvd, Grotto is a very nice upscale Italian choice. The varied menu includes antipasti, seafood pasta choices, pizza, traditional Italian meat dishes and excellent seafood items. We had the Antipasti plate (it's big enough for 3 or 4 to share) ciopani seafood soup and the flattened shrimp with crab meat, all were delicious. We will definitely return on our next trip to Galveston.
