Charming simple decor with relaxed atmosphere in small storefront location on Garret Mountain in Woodland Park, NJ. First time visit at recommendation of friends. Standard Italian menu with specials that had a Caribbean flare. The potatoes and hot peppers appetizer was very good but potatoes were like chips instead of sauteed. A different take but fine. The calamari special had a tasty ginger and sweet pepper topping. Very good. Hubby had the halibut special which was delicious but another Caribbean flavor of mango infused veggies over rice. Huge portion we should have shared. It was $32 and would have preferred a smaller portion for less cost but it will make a nice second meal. I had the capallini with shrimp and tomatoes with cannellini. It was fine. Would go back. Service excellent. Really a 4.5 rating. A little expensive for a byob place. Was $100 for 2 with no drinks.

Loved La Cambusa! On Sundays, they serve "Nonna's Sunday Dinner' which are platters of rigatoni pasta, meatballs, sausage, braciole and pork ribs (includes a house or Caesar salad also) for $22 per person. The "gravy" is outstanding, and the meats are absolutely, authentically delicious (we think the braciole had pignoli nuts and raisins in the filling). We shared a light, fluffy cannoli and some delicious tiramisu for dessert. We will definitely be returning to try some of the other dishes!

A mainstay restaurant for all newjerseyians. Vintage, charming and beautiful. Great for ladies who lunch, business and special occasions. The menu is fabulous. The chef reigns here too. Service is flawless. But skip for mother’s day brunch, when the service and crowds ruin the place. Fine restaurants should not attempt to roll out food commonly when they provide superior service all year round.

The food is excellent, hands down from what the group I was with said. I am Gluten Sensitive & at the time, this place was not accommodating so I had mussels and a salad Kindly sucks when you are with a group and they indulge & you have to split the bill. Ok - onto my review: The place is really SMALL & tables are too close together so if you like family style with people next to you - this is for you. THE NOISE FACTOR is nothing short of absolutely annoying. The night we were there the owner sang, great voice, however, with the place being packed and people talking it was truly a non-enjoyable night out. We could have done without his singing. Parking is on the street so prepare to walk on a Fri or Sat. There is a bakery connected to the restaurant which is really good. THE OWNER SHOULD INVEST IN SOME NOISE FILTERING products to put on the ceiling or walls to make this a more enjoyable dining experience. Also some GLUTEN FREE dishes would be encouraged since many people have this sensitivity especially when a person has a thyroid disease !!!

Quality, fantastic service and a nice atmosphere all made our second visit as fantastic as the first. While four of us had been here already, including my Celiac son who loves their gluten free chicken parm, two additional friends joined us and loved it as well. From the attention to detail of the wait staff, to the unique homemade selections, you can’t go wrong! Quality and consistency will definitely bring us back to La Riviera Trattoria soon.

First time. We walk in the bar side and was very impressed. Nice atmosphere. The bar was full so we were going to wait until someone left. A really nice girl server named Rebecca served us the bottle of wine while we waited. We paid the tab. We got seats at the bar. We were told it was tapas. So we ordered truffle ravioli- tuna bruschetta-crispy octopus. Attach is a picture. Tapas I understand is small but couldn’t you give two pieces of bruschetta not one? 3 raviolis but for $14.50? The taste and presentation was delicious. We ran out of time so instead of ordering more we got our tab. The tab was $52.78!! Realized they added 2 drinks onto the tab that we didn’t drink. We called the girl bartender over and said it wasn’t our tab and she started to argue with us! Told us that the other bartender said it was ours. Didn’t appreciate the attitude from the start making us have to prove it the mistake. The guy bartender wouldn’t come over to confront. It took time for the girl bartender finally to come back. Instead of voiding or taking the drinks off they deducted the drinks separately. Now we have to watch our charge card to make sure the deduction takes place! Needless to say, if that’s how a restaurant does business, we will NOT be back. Don’t need bartenders argue about drinks that wasn’t ours making a perfectly beginning of the evening turn negative. Too many other restaurants that appreciate customers.Hi Debbie, we're very sorry to hear about your experience and would like to sincerely apologize for the confusion with the check as that is certainly not how we do business. If you wouldn't mind privately sending us your phone number, our general manager would love to reach out to you personally. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again and make it up to you.

I requested a reservation online for a large family meal after an interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Our family was flying in from all over the country. I was very impressed that the owner called me right away and confirmed the reservation after offering his condolences several times. Matthew explained that there would be another larger group plus open tables which was of no concern to us but it was nice that he fully explained the size of the restaurant. The younger adults and children established their own territory at the table leaving the elder statesmen to speak freely. The staff was polite, polished and very attentive without ever being intrusive. Most of the adults ordered seafood and the respective meals were fresh and extremely well prepared. My mom always loved restaurants like this and she would have been very pleased that we were all fortunate enough to find Matthews and share quality time together as a family....thank you Matthew.
